Help with - Collaboration Post
Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all well during this strange and sad time.
I have received an email regarding a "collaboration Post"
To be honest i am not sure what to make of it - Here is the message......
----------------------------------------------------
Hi,
We were wondering if you are open to having collaborative posts on your site and if so, how much would you charge?
We have a client in the luxury interior lighting space whose products we think would be a good fit.
If this may be of interest please let me know and we can take it from there!
Kind regards,
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I would love to hear opinions on this from those with the knowledge.
I have checked out the company based in London (who sent the email) and it is a kosher set up.
Any Opinions? Is it safe? Is it a scam?
Many Thanks Mike

Don't deal with random people you have never met before they will not have your best interests at heart
Hi - the client will be hoping to obtain backlinks from your website. He will have employed the company who sent the email to search for suitable websites.
If you were to agree, then the company would write a post for your site, and it would include links to their client's website.
There can be problems with this. You will not know the name of their client or details of their website until they send you the post ready to publish.
You may find that it doesn't align with your views or way of thinking, and you may not wish to be associated with that website. Or the post could be poorly written.
Or the website could be brand new and have a much lower domain authority than yours which could drag your site down.
Add to this, that Google frowns upon paid backlinks and may not look kindly on your site for allowing this.
All in all, you can guess I don't think you should do this!
Diane. What if it's not paid. What if I have control over the contents and use it as a post about a company in the same field a bit like a review or oversight of the company? Mike
Hmm - but it is paid, even if you yourself offer to host the post free of charge. The client will pay the company who sent you the email. You don't know who their client is and they are unlikely to tell you, unless you agree to work with them.
This is how it works - if you tell the sender of the email that you will charge £50, then they will tell the client that it costs £100, and pocket the difference. Because they will write the post and have done the work of finding a suitable website.
Don't think that you alone have been singled out for this email. Notice how they haven't used your name. They will have used a bot to find every website in the UK that focuses on lighting, interior decor, etc, and sent hundreds of emails in bulk.
Diane. Fabulous input. Thank you so much. Having read your message the situation has become much clearer. You are a star ⭐ Mike x
