Should You Buy Views and Subs on YouTube? (Pros & Cons)
When you start your YouTube channel, it can be very tempting to buy views and subs, as it can quickly and cheaply boost your channel, and I am often asked whether this is a good strategy.
This quick video will go over the pros and cons and explain some important things you need to understand before doing this.

I would never go down this route, I think it's far too risky and at the same time, it's not very honest. When I saw your title, I thought you may be talking about buying traffic from Google for YouTube; perhaps that is something you could talk about in the future.
I have seen channels with, for example, seven comments, which all happened on the same day and almost at the same time, there are no other comments! It's so obvious that a channel like that has purchased its comments. It's a good sign not to trust that channel!

You will not as such pay traffic from Google to YouTube videos but you can run ads on YouTube to get more views, which is a legit way to do it.
However, there are also some risks doing that in terms of engagement etc., but I have not used any paid traffic to my channel at all, so I cannot talk much about this yet. Maybe I will start doing it at some point for other channels to grow them, and if I do, I will then make some videos about it.
They are very good, Mikael! It's also a brilliant way to learn from people who have had success, like your good self.
I hear you, Mikael; if I were promoting my channel, I would only use genuine ways.
It's great that you have so many views on your YouTube channel without paying a penny, that's quite impressive! I actually wondered if you had promoted your channel with Google ads, due to the fact that your channel is so popular. It just shows the importance of uploading regularly, just as you do.

I had someone contacting me to get more subscribers and clicks to my youtube channel, but I declined that person and blocked her on Twitter. These bots will not get you any money, because they are not interested in your content, will never watch the videos and mess up the algorithms, getting your channel down. My opinion ;-)

Very true. And basically anyone that reaches out to you on social media to "help" you get more views or likes will just waste your time and money.

Glad it helped. There are many people trying to get you to use tricks like this without telling you the risk and consequences and many YT channels end up getting into trouble because of it.
I would be interested in video retention.
Let's say 30% of your viewers watch the video till the (almost) end - is that a good sign, or should it be improved?

What is a good retention rate will vary depending on your niche. But overall I would say it looks pretty good. But you can try to search for the average in your niche. And also you can compare your own videos and see what it is for the ones that do the best and use that as a goal.
