MOBE Now Offically a Scam! Lawsuit and Closed Down

Many members here on Wealthy Affiliate has done reviews of the platform MOBE (My Online Business Education) and pointed at some of the potential problematic promotion methods used.

Well, today when doing some research for a new review, I saw that the MOBE website has officially been temporarily shut down.

The FTC has filled a lawsuit against MOBE and the owner due to many complaints from people that have lost thousands of dollars and the business methods used.

It is important to know that the site has just been temporarily shut down as FTC believes it to be a scam. But it has not been in court yet, so it might open again at some point.

You can read more about the reason it has been shut down here: http://www.bernet-receiver.com/appointments/mobe/

https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases/2018/06/ftc-a...

If you have done a review of MOBE on your website, this might be valuable info to know.

And in general it once again shows why we should not go for the programs that promise crazy earnings by getting you to promote hidden upsells to your visitors.

Just stick to the training and approach here at Wealthy Affiliate and focus on honestly helping people - that will be the best long-term online business strategy.

All the best,
Mikael

Thanks Mikeal - this is a worthy piece of information ,
I have to confess that I once signed up to the world of MOBE afer attending a seminar in London. I was a wee sceptical as I could not understand how they would show you testimonial of people with their cheques whixh ranged from £1,250 to £10,000.
What I could not understand was is that their earning per month or is this to show a "sale" they had achieved for this particular month, there was no clarity. It is schemed to get you into a franchise mentality yet the transparency is non existent.
Add to that the fact that once you past the initial training phase with your coach your then presented with the 1-1 Money/platinum Guru for which the upsell is ENORMOUS!!!! like ridiculous, No wonder Mr "M" can afford to buy Hotel venues in Tahaiti (or wherever it is)
MOBE is one space I am so glad to have escaped.

Take Heed ANYONE

Interesting to hear your experiences Robert, even though I am sorry to hear you lost money there.

Once I find out there is no transparency in a program, I try to stay away from it. I have also been burned in the past, just not with MOBE. But if there is no transparency, it is usually because they have something to hide.

MIkael

Thanks for sharing!

You are welcome Aleksandar

Hi Mikael,
I have never used MOBE and I thank you for sharing.
Based on the reviews I have read, it certainly does not seem like a winner.
Have a great day.
Jules

No there has been many complaints of MOBE, so also not a platform I would join.

Great day to you as well Jules

I wasn't aware of this. Fortunately, I have not had any interaction with MOBE. Thanks for posting this warning.

Rob, Your not missing very much my friend, from my own recent experience of MOBE, and one other venture, which is still going strong even after 20 years, compared to what is on offer here at WA, believe me, we are in the right place for all the training & education we need

You are welcome Robert - looks like it is good you have not had any interaction with them.

Mikael

Thanks a bunch, appreciate the heads up even though I have not done a review on MOBE yet. They tried to get to me just before I joined WA. I was smart to walk away, eh? :)

Sounds like you made the right decision at that time Genelda:-)

Mikael

You bet! :)

Yes it would seem to be now for sure you had a close call, by the reading of things

Yes, indeed. I did listen to some of the hype out of curiosity. I'm glad I followed my gut feeling to WALK AWAY.

Good for you

thanks

You are welcome Joy

Hey thanks for this Mikael.

I also had joined the MTTB/Mobe or whatever it was really called.
Had went to a seminar, hosted by not the main guy but (aussie guy but can't remember his name) somebody else.

I gonna be doing my own review on this. I was assigned 3 different people to schedule with on Skype and they were never available.

The setup was designed so you miss you refund guarantee and no longer to do anything with Mobe.

Great to hear you no longer have anything to do with it Amar. Great idea to do your own review, where you share your experiences. Now you can also add that there is a lawsuit going on as that is very important to know for people - but from what I can see it also means they are not recruiting at the moment, and it is not possible to join through the website.

Mikael they get what they deserve. Not the people who lost money, but the owner Matt Lloyd Mcphee doesn't care.

He along with other so called gurus out there use fake marketing to hype up. I'm sure Matt says he was something like 'millions or thousands' in debt.

So how did get rich? Oh yeah by scamming people.

I also do not feel sorry for the owner. I feel sorry for the people that have lost thousands by following a dream to become financially free but instead have ended up losing a lot / everything.

Now they will probably never try anything online again, and it is a shame as there are definitely legit ways (as here on WA) to make money online without scamming people.

Wow Oh Wow Oh Wow... This caught my eye, because, I am / was a MOBE Affiliate and it was through their 21 Step process I found WA

Reading your article, I am stunned at this, but owuld have to say, that I found promotion of it, hard, for many diferent reasons and it was one of those ventures I had decided to scale back on, purely because the training and education here at WA is by far the most superior, educational and smartest I have come across in 18 years. The last 9 of which have been professional

It really does leave WA as a fantastic product.

Great to hear your comparison of the training on the two platforms. I have also tried many other kind of trainings, but WA is definitely the most comprehensive and has the greatest tools in my experience as well.

Luckily I never tried MOBE and did not invest money or time into it.

Mikael

I was referred to it by someone who has done well with the programme, but who strangely, recently when I was talking to him about it, never replied back in a positive light, through he has always been dabbling in other things with no real focus, or what I would call focus.

And certainly not interested in business building, but building an affiliate network

Interesting to hear. But guess this explains why he was not so enthusiastic about it anymore.

Absolutely, even more interesting I text him to advise him of your article and his reponse was yes its sad, but will call you in the next day or so to discuss fully

Now, being an Ex LEO, turned business owner, there is not much to discuss really. I made an informed decision based on the facts at the time, which have now proven to be the wrong choice, bu thats business, but now take comfort from the fact that here at WA is absolutely everything needed to succeed

Sad for him. Will be interesting to hear from him what he has been told, so if you and him do not mind, feel free to share here once you hear from him.

Will do though I am not holding my breath

Thanks Dave

Thanks, Mikael, at least, someone (FTC) is listening, and taking action. Too many 'get rich quick scams' online spoiling the good ones like WA.

Yes way too many schemes that end up taking a lot of money from people. Good to see the FTC ate taking action on this one.

Mikael

Hoo, I had first-hand experience of MOBE and I had to speak with them through a solicitor to get my money back. The legal 'rules' Matt Lloyd set were full of holes and everything about that company was a misrepresentation. Thankfully that was some time ago and I'm older and wiser now!!

Interesting experience Darrin, reading yoru account.

Sorry to hear you had that experience, but glad you got out. Thanks for sharing.

Mikael
