A Myth Busted

Before I started creating my own website and joining WA, I thought that the homepage is the most important page of a website. Because I thought that is the starting point of a visitor's journey on the website. However, that is just a myth.

I used to imagine a website like a store. When a visitor checks out the website, the first thing the visitor sees is the storefront. That is usually how people get attracted to shops in shopping centers, etc.

After spending one month creating my website, I realized that the homepage is hardly viewed sometimes. When a visitor does a google search, he will not go to your homepage, but go to a specific page that interests him/her. It feels like entering a certain part of the shop without going through the storefront.

On the internet, many visitors visit your website, maybe even for several times, yet not knowing how your front page looks like! I guess I can say that setting up a store and creating a website is completely different and takes a new set of skills.

Well, that is one myth that I have...BUSTED.
