A Lot Learned In So Little Time

Well, here I go again, up at the wee hours of the morning writing a blog; much like the time frame on my previous one. I have been into this for about 3 weeks and a bit now, and in that duration I have learned A LOT from what WA has offered me so far. I had joined up to see what it had to offer in affiliate marketing and I have to say it has been the most informative and insightful system I have been involved with (and have not even dug deep enough yet for the proverbial treasure).

I have invested quite a bit of my time into this, usually later on at night when the kids are in bed and am also thankful for an understanding wife when I have shown her what I have been learning and working on. Of course taking a couple nights off to recharge and spend time is important, but she knows this was something I have wanted to work on.

I know and am aware that to be successful in whatever one does in life does not happen overnight or with little effort. So far I have completed the first couple courses, some classroom tutorials as well as reading posts, blogs and getting involved in some discussions with other friendly members out here. I have managed to put together my first site and that itself is an experience ( all you newbies can concur to that). I am still working at it bit by bit to optimize it and of course welcome anyone to read through it. Any feedback and input that I can work on to improve it (http://gamez4kidz.com ) is always welcome,.

Furthermore, although my first month had been very enlightening, I am looking forward to continuing the challenge of making this grow, and flourish as well. Thank you all for reading this and will work on my next blog soon enough. Take it easy, and enjoy.

Hello Mick , enjoyed your blogs keep it up.I also have to juggle WA with my day job so I have to spend time catching up but I will also get where I am going with your help and all the others at WA.You have started your journey to success!

Hey there Scorpio, thank you for taking the time to read and am glad you enjoyed the blogs. It had been a while since I was writing anything that was not business related and know I need to catch up on the creative writing aspect of things. I see you have been busy as well and glad to see you have achieved some results. Yes we all have to juggle with our day jobs but if what we learn and apply creatively here, then that can all change. Keep up your good work as well.

Mike

Congratulations on having your site and running. That is an accomplishment in itself. Beverly always has good suggestions and she covered a lot of it for you. Give yourself a pat on the back ;)

Thank you Kary, since I read up on her suggestions a little while ago, I have already changed my theme and am just going to modify it until I have it set. Then work on some more writing.

Hi youbetcha, and thank you for your input. I am currently looking into Beverley's suggestions and am looking at changing my theme ( once again) but since it is my first site, I figured it would happen, as I am tinkering with better content on my pages. Hope you are enjoying your time invested on Wa and making the most of your opportunity.

Hi Michael! Your layout and your copy writing skills are great and I think you're doing fantastic. I think that if you take Beverly's excellent input and continue improving, you're going to have a real winner!

Excellent work Mickster. Keep it up.

Thanks Bestie, I appreciate the feedback, and yes I am not letting off the gas now.

You have done a wonderful job with your website, I think it is interesting and I am all for games that assist in educating them, BIS has made some really good comments might need them myself, good luck with it all

Thanks Katie, yes it is good to learn from anyone's comments that can offer some constructive criticism as that is how we all learn and better ourselves. Thank you for reading

Yes i´s a great Place Learning things "even" if you get back to Another work or so you and we ALL have learned ALOT !!!

Hi Mike - well done for getting to grips with so much in such a short space of time.

I have had a look at your site. Here are a couple of things you may want to think about:

1. Theme. I don't often comment on people's chosen theme but I am in this case because I just don't think it looks great for a kids site. In my view even a completely plain white one would be better and then let the images draw people in. The black and red edges look like it's a business site. (Just my view). Don't rush in and change it. If you want to try another theme - create a test siterubix site and play around with the look there. That way you don't muck up your original site.

2 Layout. You need to break up your paragraphs more and need to use techniques like bullet points to make things easier to read. Eg on your classic boards games, your examples would be better in a bulleted list that people can read at a glance.

3. Your posts - When people come to your site, they are looking for any number of things which may include: specific information, solutions to a problem, something to entertain them ..... You need to make sure that you add value' to their experience. Therefore you need to avoid writing posts that are very general in nature.

So when you're giving education game suggestions - you need to be far more specific in giving them information. Scrabble - what age - what are the skills that it will improve. (eg word skills, hand eye co-ordination skills, timing skills....) It doesn't matter what skills or benefits there are , you just need to expand on the detail. (Personally I would be reviewing the different games)

I understand that this is a work in progress and you've made a good start. :) Beverley

Hi Beverley- thank you for taking the time to read not just my blog, but rather the site and to get another perspective on it. I do appreciate the points you have made and I'd rather have the honesty than to have a generic "good site" comment. This helps me a lot and it does give me some ideas to change, as well as optimize my site. I may look to tinker with the theme again ( my first was Pinpress actually) and I know I had to revisit my pages, as I do have some re-editing to do.
However, thanks again and perhaps I shall ask for your feedback again down the road.
