WA Comments - Please Don't Do This

Hello Gals and Guys, Especially those who offer comments within the WA platform.

Just very briefly;

1) "I have never heard of...

Please Do Not start your comment with:

"I've never heard of product A..
OR
"This is the first time I stumble upon...

This is supposed to be a genuine comment from a person that was doing research about that specific product/service/topic.
So how come you never heard of it?

You (at least in theory) doing research about it using Google or another Search Engine, so obviously, you know something about it, or you have heard about that.

2) Bounce Rate

The second point is not so important but while I am here I think it might be useful.
While you are at the website reading the post of another WA member, please spend a minute, or just a few seconds, and go throughout the website.

Check at least another post, maybe about me page, or home page.

That way, the bounce rate won't be 100%, and you and I know it might only help a bit.

If you have other recommendations, please do mention them as well.
Thanks.

That's it, for now :)

Have wonderful rest of the day!
Mike

Hi Mike,
I don’t like to use site comments because I’m often disappointed with the quality of the comments I get. The last one I received had no punctuation marks at all.
Sometimes I don’t know what to do, simply reject such comments or rewrite them completely.

1

That's right.
Sometimes I have to re-write the comments as well.

True, any genuine comment will be from someone who has landed on a site because they were looking for something that directed them there.

Also as a WA commenter, we do owe it to ourselves to browse the site and see what it is all about. The comments platform is a good thing, but so often abused.

Absolutely,
Thanks, Alex.

I think it's perfectly in order not to have heard of a product before reading about it in a review. I think it's a bonus for the writer bringing the product or service to my attention.
I agree that we should spend some time on a member's site by visiting other areas of their websites.

The entire point of the comments is to show Google that people do visit the website from Google, by searching a specific term/keyword.

Then after reading the post/article, they leave a comment on the website.
The website owner replies back.

That's engagement, and that is what Google likes about the website. That they are "alive".

You don't write the comments here within the WA Site Comment Platform, because you want to learn something new about the product...

Hope it makes sense,
Mike

Spending some time investigating the site is an essential part of leaving good comments and anyone who doesn't deserves to have their 3 line comment rejected. I don't agree at all with your first point, however. It's perfectly reasonable to be researching the general topic (say, home gym equipment) and then be amazed by the value offered by a particular product (such as a home elliptical trainer) that you've never heard of before.

I think I see your point.

So a person lands on a website (post-A) browses through the posts/articles B, C,. ..
...and suddenly finds an article E, that he/she never heard of... and then she leaves a comment saying "I have never heard of..)

OK, that makes sense.

But that has to be determined by the fact that the person really browses the website...
and not that I see in GA: 1 page/1session/Bounce Rate 100%.

But good point Phil,
thanks for enlightening me
Mike

Good points especially number 2! As a blogger, I ALWAYS explore the site I visit especially if I think they deserve some lovin'. Obviously, if the site is crap, I just move on. However, I don't think a lot of people know this so thank you for educating the rest here on WA who might not know this yet. ^_^

Great!
I am glad you do this :)

Thanks a lot for your thoughts
Mike
