A Self-Imposed Kick Up The Rear!

Some months ago, I suddenly felt unwell. I had the classic symptoms of a common cold...you know the sort of thing. Shivering, a lump in the throat, aching bones and a general feeling of being tired. You may not be surprised to learn that I received little sympathy from the female side of the family. "Dads got a severe case of man 'flu" was the most polite response that I can safely print here!

But for once in my life I found that it was more than just "man 'flu" and to cut a long story short I ended up in hospital wired to machines that kept me breathing. To be fair to the women in my life, they rallied around me and I couldn't have been looked after better if I had been the King!

But the point of this story is not to moan about my illness. What I found was that when I recovered, I had lost all incentive to work. Affiliate Marketing. Wealthy Affiliate, writing blogs, compiling new pages for my website, and looking for new opportunities all took a back seat. In short, I couldn't get myself motivated. I have no idea why this happened, and life's too short to analyze the reasons.

But what I do know is that nobody else in the world can make you work. It's too easy to make excuses as to why you can't do something. In my case, days turned into weeks and I didn't create a thing. And then I decided to step back into real world. It wasn't a giant leap but just a small step (apologies to Neil Armstrong). But that small step was the start of renewed energy that came from somewhere deep inside. Now I feel refreshed and ideas are flowing again.

So next time you feel that "it's all too much" just remember that you can do it. Recall just why you started your own business. You had goals that you may or may not have achieved. Start to dream again, and take those small steps towards a better life.
