When you start creating a FB Page, Twitter A/C, Pinterest A/C etc. linking to your website, do you amend your website to show icons linking to the social media platforms too?

Hi Katherine

These short video from Eric will certainly help you out more Wishing you well

Andre :)

Brilliant! Thanks so much, Andre.

Most welcome Kathleen Eric has many amazing short video trainings. Just go to his profile then blog and scroll down for more areas you may be interested in

Andre :)

I just put the social media icons on the footer. Other places people may put it are on the top bar and sidebar.

Thanks, Meina.
I'm putting links to my social media on the footer now. I imagined having neat little icons though. At the moment I just have the words "Facebook", "Pinterest" etc. linking to the different platforms.

If you're using Generate Press, go to Appearance—Widgets. Pick the Footer Widget area you want and add your preferred social media icons there. That'll solve the problem. There is no need to install a social media plugin (unless you want a specific icon design style).

I use a social media icons plugin to do this. However, most modern themes and blocks have a way to add social buttons/icons to your site and customize them by adding your social media links to them respectively.

I hope this helps.

John

Thanks, John. I'm just looking at a social media icons plugin now.

Either "name" or "item.name" should be specified (in "itemListElement")
Items with this issue are invalid. Invalid items are not eligible for Google Search's rich results.

Hi Katherine, I'd disregard, it could be a false negative. I checked a few of those URLs on Google and they are showing up, telling me that they are indexed so there's no issue.

Okay, thank you, VitaliyG. I spent a lot of time trying to get to the bottom of this, learning about structured data, plug-ins to help etc. :-/

WA seemed to be down?

I'm glad that it's now back!

Have a good day!

Cheers,

Katherine

Yeah it's just a bunch of distractions. Your site is working, it's also indexed so you're good to go :)

Okay, that's a relief VitaliyG, thank you. I can move forward again now.

Last question:

Do I need to worry about this link?

https://flourishpast40.com/category/uncategorized/

I'm not too sure where it's coming from or how to change it. (It was one of the links with the breadcrumbs issue which is why it's been highlighted to me.)

That's not an issue it's just a default category that's on your site which you will eventually remove when you set up custom menus and categories as you progress in the training.

Aah, perfect. Thanks, VitaliyG!

Going by PageSpeed Insights it looks like my website could be faster, especially on mobile.

It tells me that "image formats like WebP and AVIF often provide better compr

I wouldn't worry about that Katherine. It's normal for sites to have lower speeds on mobile and it's not a huge factor in ranking/performance. If anything it's more of a headache to try and make it as super optimized as possible. I left this alone a long time ago and just operate on good content and that's enough lol.

Okay, that sounds great, VitaliyG, thank you!

Thank you, Kyle. I checked it out last night, checked that my Gravatar profile was set up, left 2 comments on websites and earned 2 credits! How cool! I think that I'm going to enjoy this feature. Thanks. :)
