Lowering my bounce rate experiment + Ideas for earning extra pocket money
Hey everyone!
I've noticed my traffic has reached an avg of 30 new visitors daily (I think?), and with that boost came a very high bounce rate...
Not sure what to do about this, as I try to keep my content engaging.
So here's the experiment I'm going to use to see if it affects the bounce rate:
- Adding more 'hip' or less generic pictures for content posts
- Be more consistent with the brief "what to expect from this post" section of the content
- Keeping the introductory content shorter and consistently engaging
Well, that's all for the experiment.
Let me know which strategies you use/used to lower your own bounce rate with a comment below.
Okay, so this will be really quick.
Been finding problems coming up with the funds for Premium, so I've been trying a freelancing site to get some side cash.
Here are some ideas for anyone reading (these are also what I'm currently using):
- Selling on eBay
- Swagbucks (Yes, this works and it is lucrative)
- Selling a skill on a freelancing site (Just started yesterday, so I'll let you guys know if this worth your time or not in the future)
Hope these ideas help!
What did you guys do when you needed to make a little extra pocket bacon?
Let me know with a comment below!
Much love,
Jess

Mike, Good answer, very interesting info.
As for what did I do have I done?
Online, I've always worked in the business education / training market, providing solutions for Independent Business Owners
So far its worked well and does me alright!
That's awesome! I believe that there's a perfect method for everyone, and I'm happy you found yours :D
For me bounce rate can be reduced when I do these 3 things:
1. Make the first sentence and paragraph interesting enough to want to read the next sentence and paragraph.
2. On how to post and information post, try to get all the info the reader came searching for immediately after the lead in paragraph.
This is a hard lesson for me because I really like being long winded and setting up the answers long before I get to the answers. But when I go looking for something, I never read through a bunch of bs before I get to what I'm looking for..I usually click off and look somewhere else.
3. I can make my post more readable (so people will actually read the whole thing) when I take the time to make every sentence an extension of the one before it.
(I use this a lot in my post, and you can google it and learn about using this technique to make people read longer "Grease-Slide Copy")
Videos may keep people on the page longer, but what's the point if they aren't reading my own article and responding to it?
The use of video works well for keeping people on a page for longer. Even it is someone elses video from Youtube on your post subject.
Make sure that the video does not have too much in the way of promotion of the video owners stuff, which may drive people away from your page though!
Swagbucks is a "survey" site, but don't let that scare you! They have several easy ways to make "Swagbucks" and you can do it on autopilot if you want to!
Earning 100 Swagbucks will get you $1 and it doesn't take long to get there if you're consistent. So think of one Swagbuck as 1 cent.
I've personally used it to replace my expensive crocks (worth around $50) and that was after having cashed out three times during the past five months.
Point being, it's worth it if you give it a chance :)

I found that my bounce rate came down when I started adding a Table of Contents to my posts with the plugin Easy Table of Contents.
I think that a lot more of my visitors are staying on my site because they can easily click down to the points they want to read without having to read the whole article. That's what I do when I'm browsing the internet, so I try to make it as easy as possible for them to see any part of the post that will make them keep reading.

That's an excellent idea! Thank you so much, that's definitely going on the list!
You are welcome, glad to help!
