Finally my own online course is online and I made the first sale!
Dear all! In the last weeks I was working on my first online course for learning European Portuguese. It was quite a lot of work, finding the right tool to film the video, cutting it, finding the right way to sell it, etc.
After all, I decided to sell it on an external site (teachable.com) as it seems to be a lot easier than selling it on my own website. I don't have to think about the size of the video, as it might slow down my page, and I don't have to take care of the payments / refunds.
Once I had the course (lecture 1; 60 minutes) ready, I wanted to change the design of my website so it looks more professional and people would have more trust in my page.
I managed to re-design the whole page and I really, really like it now :) there are some small adjustments I have to make still, but for now it is ready to sell my own course.
The big moment was there, I put the course online and announced it in social media + e-Mail list.
I had around 300-500 views on my course page the first 2 days and eventually it happend:
I MADE MY FIRST SALE OF MY OWN COURSE.
That felt great! =) Looking closer, I saw that in fact it was a competitor of my niche that purchased my course, probably out of curiosity haha. Nevertheless, it was a sale!
In the following 2-3 days, I had around 400-500 people clicking on my course, but no more sale, unfortunately.
I realized that I have to work on my marketing, I could have made more marketing before launching the course. I get many more subscribers now, also because of the new design I think.
I am now working on lecture 2 of my online course and I am also starting with Mail-Chimp, to set up some e-Mail campaigns to follow up with my subscribers. I want them to become my customers.
I work on a small e-book, so I can offer it to people when they subscribe. I want to create value for my visitors and hopefully more people will decide to purchase my course in the future.
I would be happy for any suggestions about good (and free) marketing campaigns for online courses (education). Is anybody working in a similar niche?
Thanks and regards,
Mia.
[If anybody wants to see the new design of the website, here it is: https://learn-portuguese.org/ Feel free to make also some suggestions of what could be improved, I am always happy for feedback =) ]

That's great! But you are right - writing a course and doing the marketing for it are two totally different things.
Interesting that a competitor bought your course.
I was at your website yesterday and signed up for your newsletter. I've just had the first one - will work through the two lessons and get back to you. :-)

Well done, have you been following Jays' recorded videos on marketing; There was mention of marketing in his video on site content.when I'm researching a topic I usually browse through his list of recorded videos. Best of luck.
Hi! thank you very much for this advise. I have followed some of his videos, but not yet on marketing. I will check out the videos later for sure :) Thanks and have a great day.
Such a good news, Mia. I am going to check and bookmark your website.

I have a question how do use MailChimp because it needs to authenticate your website and say that you need to develop a cname? how were you able to that as WA servers to not allow cpanel yet?
Hi! In fact, I just signed up in mailChimp. Then I went to Sumo-Me and integrated MailChimp from there. Not sure about your problem, unfortunately. But you could ask this in the live-chat, for sure some people have an answer on this =)
