Stop putting ads on your website!
Hey WA Community,
AS I HAVE BECOME MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE WEBSITE MAKING PROCESS I HAVE COME TO TERMS WITH ONE MAIN THING I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD KEEP IN MIND.
"STOP SENDING PEOPLE AWAY FROM YOUR SITE"
I'M JUST TELLING YOU WHAT MOST PEOPLE WON'T
THINK ABOUT IT
YOU GO TO A WEBSITE(JOURNEYS) AND BUY SHOES FROM THAT WEBSITE.-JOURNEYS WOULDN'T SEND YOU TO ANOTHER WEBSITE TO LOOK AT OTHER SHOES. JOURNEYS WOULDN'T DIRECT YOU TO ANOTHER SITE TO CHECKOUT OR LOOK FOR ANOTHER PRODUCT THAT'S UNAVAILABLE THEY REDIRECT YOU TO ANOTHER PAGE WITHIN THE SITE TO SEE WHERE THE PRODUCT IS AVAILABLE.
I HOPE I'M MAKING SENSE TO WHOMEVER IS READING!
YOU TAKE ENDLESS TIME OUT OF YOUR DAY TO PERFECT YOUR WEBSITE RIGHT??? ONLY TO HAVE AN AD ON THE SIDE WIDGET GET YOUR SUBSCRIBER SIDE TRACKED AND LOSE FOCUS ON WHY THEY ARE ON YOUR PAGE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Google, Facebook, Twitter, CNN, Youtube (a Google property), etc., make money and are able to help others make money via ads. If your site is purely informational, such as Wikipedia, then ads are definitely not necessary. Thanks for the thought provoking post. :)
If a site makes money through direct sales, such as the site you mentioned, then I suppose ads are not necessary.
Everyone is struggling with something. If we can learn to be empathetic and share what we have, this world, and each individual that dwells here, will achieve a higher plane of existence and truly understand what it means to be a successful human being.-electrobot

Awesome. Thanks for quoting me. That is the first time I've seen content from one of my posts in a comment. I appreciate that. :)
indeed I agree. But may I suggest Creating all the tools of what you learn from here(Wealthy Affiliate) and Create digital products of your own that you can promote on your site. Check out what digital products are here https://www.facebook.com/Alluringpreneur
Ads do certainly work for some types of sites and in some cases they are more powerful than affiliate marketing, depending on your niche and your audience.
I've also seen some people doing both. It can work in some cases, especially for ads where you are getting paid on people seeing them, not on their actions. More than anything, it's a matter of looking at your own site and seeing what's likely to be the best option.
