Oh My Goodness! What did I just do!?
Dear WA Tribe,
I cannot believe what I just did a few minutes ago!!
Let me tell you a little story first...
9 months ago, I joined an online training called Speaker Pro. To validate the first module, I had to record a simple 2-minute video and post it on the FB group. I was so nervous about this that I procrastinated as long as I could. And then one day, thanks to a great pep talk from my mother-in-law, I did it. But I was not psychologically ready for this! So much so that I "fled" from that training until a few days ago.
A couple of weeks ago, as I mentioned in some of my recent WA blog posts, I healed my deep-rooted fear to be seen/recorded on camera. As a result, I started my YouTube channel, and recorded and published my first video.
One thing leading quickly to another, a few days ago, I accepted a public speaking engagement for March 10.
So, what did I do? I went back to the Speaker Pro training to get ready for that conference.
I became active on that training's FB group again, published my YouTube video there, re-recorded a 2-minute video to re-validate Module 1...
And then... I saw that there was a Live Coaching session on that FB group today at noon (CET)...
I joined it... and one thing leading SUPER quickly to another I ended up being coached live by the trainer.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I still can't believe I did this!!
And what did I do when he asked me to do some improvisation? My first reaction was to run awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! But I did a flash visualisation and I did it!
Oh my goodness!!! Wow!! I had NO idea this was going to happen today.
This may be a small step for some but a HUUUUUUGE step for me! I feel so excited that I really wanted to share this with you! I know a lot of you like to hear positive stories of success!
Have a beautiful day everyone!
To our Success,
Nathalie

Thumbs up Nathalie! You must be so proud of yourself! I also suffer from this huge anxiety, wondering if I will ever be able to cross my shadow π
All the best,
Eva
Thanks a lot, Eva! I totally understand!
I am putting a training together here at WA on how to overcome camera-shyness. π I hope it can help you. π
All the best,
Nathalie
I would recommend for those who are shy in public speaking that the best remedy for this, is just to do it. No matter if you talk too fast, too slow, make many mistakes it is all good learning experience. The more times you speak the better you become, but you must always be nervous as nervous make you think about what words come out of your mouth, whilst confidence breeds contempt. Breath and it will be alright.
Thanks a lot for your tip, Antonio.
For me it was not the fear of public speaking but the fear to be on camera.
And believe me, now that I know where this was coming from and what I did to heal/overcome it, I understand why I could not even get myself to do more than one video. And that was already using all my will power!!
And doing that one video actually caused me to freak out even more and run away from any place or anyone who made me do this once! I have some strong personal examples about this that I shall share in my upcoming training and YouTube videos...
Nathalie

I can feel you! I did have severe anxiety several years ago, afraid of everything. Afraid of doing something that pumps your heart faster. But nothing we can't over come specially if someone is believing in you! Cheers!

:-) It took a lot more than that for me to heal my deep-rooted fear to be seen/recorded on camera, Randyford.
I shall tell more about it in the training I am putting together here at WA on how to overcome camera-shyness. π
Cheers,
Nathalie
Wahoo Whooppeee Nathalie.
Proud of you and thanks for telling me about Speaker Pro. We must be related some way...have similar hang ups about being in front of the camera (better behind it). Going to check Speaker Pro out right now.
Have a great day and celebrate one more step forward.
Barry
Thanks a lot, Barry! :-)
Speaker Pro is a French-speaking program... but I am working on putting together a training here at WA that could help you and others with this. π
