To cancel WA sub or not

I have been very quiet here lately and thats been due to the fact that I have found I am more interested in web development than I am in Business development.

I came into WA when I was learning about "Niche" marketing and I always seem to not go anywhere with it.... then I realised something. I was spending more and more time learning on how to get my website looking how I wanted it to look rather than using basic theme changes.

I have been going through lots of html and css tutorials with other training schools and feel that WA is not aimed at someone who wants to learn front end web development. I would still like to do something within WA in the future but maybe it would be best to leave for now and come back to it once I feel I have more time for it???? I dont know, thats why I am blogging this here.

Any thoughts always appreciated... I am trying to think how I could incorporate both??

Cheers

Not. All web development is front end. First corporate and get a successful website going then incorporate, then invest in yourself. ^_~

Udemy has a Web Development course. Check it out at Udemy.com I hope this will help but only you can determine what is best for you at this point.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do. It's your life, your work and you gotta love it, or it's simply not worth doing.
Just keep in mind that you do want to monetize it, like Paul said, in a way that'll bring in passive income...
Wishing you much success!

Thanks for the early comments peeps, doing what feels best for me rings true and being able to build websites is a very interesting idea. After looking around perhaps I could be creating my own WP themes or helping local buisness with mobile and responsiveness?

This is where like Marian has said... monetizing my web dev skills in most likely a freelance arena?
So yes WA is still something of value to me but right now i feel im paying for a service im not using.

I am just airing my thoughts and I do appreciate the community coming out to give their opinions etc so thanks

The only comment I would disagree to would be pauls idea of working for a living... running any business involves working for a living and the idea of creating online incomes with no amount of work involved creates the wrong image IMHO

Yeah, I was specifically talking about generating a passive income, which although it requires work, isn't the same as praying that your next job pays, or even arrives, before the mortgage is due.

Ok, my first advice: do what ever makes you feel happy!
Second: how are you planning to monetize your web development ideas? If you´re are going to work from home, maybe there is a need to learn the "business" development-part to sell your services? Give it some thoughts, and like Bis said: WA is will still be there! Take care!

I think you should do what feels best for you. WA will still be here if you decide to take a break. However I agree with Paul that the all singing all dancing website isn't necessarily going to bring you an income- so you need to decide what your priorities are.

Best of luck.

I'm a bit like you, in that I like fiddling with my sites, but I taught myself not to be so anal about them. The need for an ability to develop has much diminished as WP gets better. I've stopped designing to concentrate on writing for a living, mainly because I spent a lot of time designing only to discover WP already had a free theme which was almost identical.

I suppose you need to ask yourself what your website (s) are for? I went through a period when I had a beautiful, all-singing, all-dancing site and no business. You're right about WA not being about web development. I think K&C discovered it was a shrinking area for business people and the theme route is ideal for noobs and experienced marketers alike.

My advice (FWIW) would be to stick to making your site pay. Web developers are two a penny nowadays, which is why I quit. And of course that direction will always see you working for a living, and who wants to do THAT?
