I am putting myself on the backseat for a while
I need to create an online presence from scratch for someone that is a professional organiser for peoples day trips, birthdays, special events, holidays etc and Im not sure where to begin.
This will have something to do with local marketing???
Could do with bashing heads with everyone to help push/shove/kick/nudge/ move me in the right direction on this so if ever its worth paying for premium membership, I hope to realise it now!!!

Yeh I was thinking the same, so I can use it to catch other local clients if I create a local site. Another thought, if I can rank for keywords relating to all things like group parties, hen/stag groups, single day events, spa days etc then possibly I could approach a local spa in my area and ask if they wanted to advertise on the site for free in exchange for a permanent special deal price my g/f could then use to capture clients herself?????
Are they going to pay you or are they looking for free help? If they are looking for the latter than this is not going to be a situation that will lead to any revenue.
Otherwise, yes this is a local marketing opportunity. You can charge out for building a website, you can charge out for managing the marketing campaigns (typically a residual monthly charge) and you can also charge for future updates.
The first thing you need to do is sit down with them, see what they want to accomplish, how big their site is, their marketing they want to do, and then go from there.

Decide on her Brand. Build a logo...there are many places that you can do this. Or use GIMP if you have a good idea. (GIMP is a free Photoshop Alternative)
Then design a header that incorporates the logo.
From there, Put up a website, Google + Page and Facebook Page. Set up your Google Local Places and get her listed in the local directories.
Jay has done several Local WAbinars that are quite illuminating on the subject.

i have AI and PS and although i dont fully know how to use them i was thinking of recording myself doing some logos and putting them up in my IM site i created as like a tutorial.
have got the domain, katiesoccasions with the .co.uk as i thought going local would be better?

im currently writing out my target market and trying to build my framework up before i do anything.
One thing i am learning is the better i plan beforehand, the easier it is to actually build the site and create the content .... thats the theory, ive not got round to content just yet.
also reading jays site development tutorial, found it informative but need more details, i have an idea to go thru it and try and provide some extra information for people. Not sure yet, got plenty on my plate lol

Spend some time looking at the Live Video Classes. There is a wealth of information there. You could spend a month just watching those.
