What is Freedom?
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. When we look back at history over the past 25 years, what do we think of?
The world has changed a lot in the past 25 years since that day that finally united East and West Germany, which were separated by a wall, created to keep people trapped on one side of it.

As we look around the world today at the events taking place, one thing that comes to mind in all the conflicts is FREEDOM.
There are more people in more countries around the world today who are fighting for freedom, in one form or another.
For me there is one particular place that touches my heart, Ukraine.
I have been following the events in Ukraine, since the peaceful protests that started last year in Independence Plaza also known as the Maidan in Kiev.
I have been to Kiev 5 times and I have also been to Simferopol and Sevastopol, both in Crimea, when they were still a part of Ukraine.
The people of Ukraine are today fighting for their FREEDOM, and to get rid of the old corrupt ways of the past.
This was clearly evident when they held recent elections in which the majority of parties and people elected were pro-western, indicating that they wanted closer relations with Europe and the west and that they wanted more freedoms.
It is going to be a long road, with many potholes along the way, but as long as they keep their hearts and minds set on the one thing that matters to them more than anything else, FREEDOM, then they will achieve it, I am sure of it.

I visited Germany a few years back while working with a German company. We drove from West to East, I was amazed at the difference in the level of affluence as we crossed the old border. Seems that there is still a long way to go.
