Success!!! At Least I Hope!

This is happy me. There is nothing that I love more than volunteering at Government Canyon State Natural Area. No, I do not get paid, but the privilege of working with the rangers and being in the middle of nature is more than I can ask for.

I hiked there for almost 10 years, during which time I also taught in San Antonio. When there it was not uncommon to see me back pack, as many juices and snacks as I could carry,

along with my trusty camera. We had fallen (my camera and I) more than once, but I must proudly say that my camera was never damaged.

Going through this tutorial and finding ways to combine my "niches," has been a bit of a journey. I have always loved nature. I have always loved photography (however, when I was little there was no such thing as digital), and technology.

Rather than keeping me from nature, technology has became my voice. What I could not explain in words, my camera and computer could shout to the world. Once I was asked what I saw when I took a picture; no words came to mind or even out of my mouth. That was when I realized that what I saw, was internal.

Oh, no, how was I going to blog? I could not just put pictures, but then it hit me, I only began to notice nature as I tried to live mindfully. Thinking of how peaceful that made me, and seeing the smiles on the faces of those who saw the pictures I had taken, I wanted to share the peace that I found, the oneness with nature, the wisdom that only nature could share, with others.

This is a wonderful post! I understand what you are saying! I truly love hiking in the parks and being out in creation it is the place where I find the greatest peace and feel ever more in unity with the Creator! :) Christa

Christabelle, that is what I thought. See your picture is of one gently touching a butterfly. Little creatures, most of which live for such a short time, but fill the time they spend here with miracles that not many will look at twice. Thanks! I appreciate this.

There were people actually stopping taking pictures when that occurred! It was 104 degrees and we were at Mt. Pilot in NC. The butterfly had been flying around us and then landed on the fence rail, my fiance put his hand on the rail and then the butterfly came up to his hand and began to take the moisture from his fingers. It was one of those very special moments! Christa :)

Oh Christa I have seem it and even felt it! it is an experience like no other!

I agree! :)

Good post, Maryann. Keep going because you're on the right track. ~Marion

You go Maryann!

Sounds like you know what your passion is!

Shawn, it took many years and it was a total School of Hard Knocks experience. I finally found it and I want to share it.
