Work Progress vs Work Process

In order to define what I am talking about here we need to know the meaning of the words progress and process - most of us know they have two different meanings but for clarity’s sake:

Progress is a movement forward or toward a place which is the process of improving or developing something over a period of time. Therefore, Progress!

Process is a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end.

So in order for us to achieve progress on a daily basis working towards our success online we need a process to make progress makes sense, right?

Making things even trickier is that fact that we all have been writing goals for the coming year that we would like to achieve.

Now I found this difficult because I was not exactly what type of goals I should be striving for as a person so I decided to see what was meant by "goals".

What are Goals?

What I found is there are three types of goals and these are based on time, focus, and topic. We set time goals for either a short-term or long-term period in our lives.

Goal setting is important for deciding what we want to achieve in our lives separating what is important from what is irrelevant or a distraction.

Goals will motivate us, build our self-confidence, and are based on successful achievements we want for ourselves.

But in order for us to reach our goals we need a process, and from the process we make progress therefore reaching the goals we have set for ourselves.

This was becoming overly complicated and I was not sure where I was going with it truthfully but I know they are all connect.

Back to researching alright now here is the thing I found without a process to reach progress no matter what goals you set achieving them are then being based on an outcome goal.

Reaching an Outcome Goal is possible but highly unlikely because just because you want it does not mean you can achieve it without first finding yourself a process by which you can achieve the goal.

Now things are starting to make more sense. In order to reach one's Goals you need to find a process by which you can progress daily toward the goals that you have set and want to reach whether in a short-term or long-term makes no difference.

Setting Up a Process

Needing a process is where I began and set up a task menu inside an Excel workbook sheet listing daily all the things I wish to accomplish.

What happens if I do not complete daily what needs to be done? I can either try to make it up the next day or push back the actual short-term or long-term goals I have set.

Making progress all comes from having a process by which you need to set up first and follow then reaching your goals will come easier because you now have a way to accomplish them rather than just having an Outcome Goal of wanting to reach them.

Reaching My Goal

When people would ask me if I had set my goals for next year 2019 I would tell them I was not sure what my goals were yet because I did not know how I would even begin to reach them no matter what I wanted.

Now that I have figured out how to reach my goal, I know that the big one is to make Vegas for 2020! But now with a process in place to make progress toward that goal I can see if I am really in line for making this just an Outcome Goal or my real I am going to do this goal.

In Closing

I have seen many of you blog about your goals for 2019 and how you want to make your online business successful but have you seriously thought about the process to making progress to reach those goals?

Knowing I have the Excel worksheet with what I want to accomplish each day helps but it is still not exactly the process that I am going to need to make Vegas in 2020 but it is a start.
