Care With DIsclaimers

Hi after a few days of bouncing around reading profiles and reviewing sites I have put this together for support to the WA community. Its health based but may be applied to other niche/area's that people may wish to divulge. Can you take an objective look at it with regards to your own site?

This is only if you need to or if its related to health/Medical sites. -

My sister is an RGN here in the UK. DISCLAIMER You may want to put a disclaimer up stating...... That your not a doctor and the medical/dietary advise that you provide, is not to replace viewers or users of the sites current medical situation or advise that may have been given by their GP or legal consultant and that your site is there to solely support them as an optional alternative. Then Add - and in no way does my information advise anyone to use this information as a replacement for any medical condition! ........

If this benefits any of you here on WA, please kindly pass on feedback to anyone you know or site you've reviewed and feel it would help. Kindest regards to all WA, = )

Straight forward advice!
John

This info was exactly what I was looking for. I have a healthcare related site and want to make sure people go to the doc if needed. Does anyone have an example of a disclaimer I can use as a template?
Thanks
Lynn

Drafting notes for free medical information disclaimer
This disclaimer may be suitable for use on websites that supply free medical information - for example, information about injuries, diseases, pharmaceuticals, therapies, medical devices or health products.
The disclaimer provides that such medical information is merely information - not advice. If users need medical advice, they should consult a doctor or other appropriate medical professional. The disclaimer also provides that no warranties are given in relation to the medical information supplied on the website, and that no liability will accrue to the website owner in the event that a user suffers loss as a result of reliance upon the information.
Of course, this kind of liability disclaimer will not always be enforceable. The courts regularly rule that limitations and exclusions of liability are ineffective (on various grounds). You should take advice from your lawyer if you may wish to rely upon a disclaimer of liability.
The disclaimer may be used on its own or used as part of another legal document.
Section 5 - Interactive features
Does the website include any interactive features through which information or assistance may be provided to users?
Section 6 - Limits upon exclusions of liability
Section 6.1
Do not delete this provision (except upon legal advice). Without this provision, the specific limitations and exclusions of liability in the document are more likely to be unenforceable.

Thanks so much Mark!

Thank you for the advice ... very good ...

Great advice!

I have an Affiliate and Earnings disclaimer, and "Upfront I Am Not A Doctor Or Chiropractor, I Can’t Give You Medical Advice... " on my Back Pain article.

Good advice. I have disclaimers but will go over them again to make I'm covered. Glyn

Great point! I've been thinking of adding a disclaimer, but so far I have not felt I need to do it. But I will do it later on. I write about how to create a more stress free life and been thinking there might be visitors who are depressed that would need to seek medical help.

When you are not an authority in health business it really is sensible to add a disclaimer:)

It only came to mind because I jumped into live chat and seen a conversation that Kyle was having with another member on a different subject. Health is a sensitive issue for many people & if someone has terms Like "Medical" or "Surgery" in their links it could be misconstrued quite easily, especially if its noticed by a Tongue or Culture whom is not fully competent with the message.

Many thanks. Loes Very Much Appreciated : )

That has been something on my mind to do, my mission for today, many thanks Mark, great post. Good luck. Allen.
