Fired Up!
For some reason, I'm really fired up tonight and I can already tell it's going to be difficult to get my butt to sleep. But I can remember a time in my life when I had trouble getting fired up about anything. I was a victim of the daily grind and saw no evidence that such a life was ever going to amount to much. Not long after that, I had no job at all and things looked even more grim.
Then I discovered freelance writing and realized that there was at least one thing I was decent enough at to actually earn some money. It didn't pay much at first, but it was better than blowing a tank of gas to drive all over town applying for jobs I wasn't going to get. The effect this had on my mentality was amazing. I can't overstate how powerful it is to realize at the lowest point in your life that you have a marketable skill that doesn't involve a miserable job.
Fast-forward about 5 years and that's when I discovered Wealthy Affiliate. I was already giving my all to freelance writing, which is something I hadn't been able to get myself to do in any of the regular jobs I'd held over the years. But now I had stumbled across something even more exciting! I finally had the missing piece to the puzzle that would allow me to transmit my own message to the world. I had a vehicle for my writing that nobody else held the keys to.
Ever since then, I've been on a high that's pretty hard to explain. I won't say that my progress has been as fast as I would have hoped, but that's only because of the time I still spend on freelance work. Gradually that phase in my writing career is winding down and I'm finding more time to work on my sites now. So I guess that's what has me so fired up right now.
That got me to wondering what it takes to get other members here fired up. Does it come naturally to you or do you have to psyche yourself up each morning, before you get started? Is there any type of ritual involved in getting you into the required creative/productive state or has it now become so much a part of your mindset that you just wake up ready for action?

Interesting question... made me stop and think.
I start planning before I get up. I think about the tasks I have outlined to do this day. Finally, the desire to get started gets me up. I go through the morning routine and get the computer up and ready. Emails first, though that may change. However, I seem to do well with writing late morning or early afternoon.
It's that first having to convince myself I have to get up that is the hard part. Once I'm out of bed, the routine overtakes me.
I can totally relate, Fran. I had a hard time getting up this morning until I got to thinking about what I had to do and the bigger picture it fits into. Lately, I've been having all sorts of "epiphanies," if you can call them that, and most of them have been upon awakening. By the time I've thought them through, I'm ready to tackle whatever the day requires, routine or otherwise.
Those epiphanies are great -- They come to me when I first go to bed and can't sleep right away. I keep a notebook where I can reach it, and write these ideas down so I won't forget them. It's been very helpful.
Hey Mark,
I agree with you. It is good to be fired up with something that gives you inner satisfaction that you are your own boss. Good day.
Joseph
Absolutely, Joseph! I think the highest calling is becoming all we are capable of becoming. That's when you know you're using all your gifts, as being your own boss will require every one of them.
Hi Mark, probably I’m new here. The fire is still burning within me. Ha.
For the past weeks, I’ve been sleeping very late or I should say ‘early’. I hit 530am once but somehow I did not feel tired. Probably I’m not working at the moment and I have the energy. Ha.
If there’s something that you love, no one can force me.
My mum always telling me, when the cow does not want to drink, you cannot force it.
It’s all about mindset again! How we set our mind! :o)
Yes! Absolutely, my friend! It would be nice if establishing the proper mindset wasn't such a tricky and elusive process in the beginning, but once you're there the fire burns bright!
Great read Mark. You have found a place to launch your skills with and grow your income, that place we all want. Why some don't or don't know how is a challenge.
I found as I took on the trainings new thoughts came and confidence grew to take inspired actions and moved into a "new normal".
Sometimes though when I hit a sticking point through not grasping well, I stalled there. But later I knew my own mind and had the faith to dig in again to trigger new enthusiasm.
And it works. I feel great that we can manouver ourselves to that place.
In the end joy and satisfaction, great feelings about ourselves unblocks that unsure or doubtful emotion.
A friend says how do you overcome "doubt". She says before it arises.
Have a great 2019 Mark. Look forward to reading more of your writings.
That's definitely the best way to overcome doubt, for sure. Once it works its tentacles in there, it can be pretty hard to pry them out. I think if you can keep it exciting enough, there's less room for doubt. At least that's what I'm figuring out in hindsight.
Personally and I am a firm believer in mindset, you have to have that mindset in order to achieve success. Once you make that shift and realize that this is a business, your business than it starts clicking for a lot of folks.
For me Wealthy Affiliate has become kind of a habit but in a good way LOL LOL
Sometimes I have a tendency to lose sleep though...right now it is 3 am and I just finished writing an article. Tomorrow I will be writing another LOL
Yup, I feel ya! I just knocked out a somewhat off-the-cuff post for one of my sites, only to find myself coming in here to blog some more, lol. But yes, it really does come down to mindset.
