Google+ Team Advisory
Yesterday I received message from Google+ team informing me that I am eligible for a unique Google+ custom URL that let me easily point folks to my profile (no more long URL's). They give me the links where I can choose to change my URL. But I am confuse and worried because the Google+ account I have now is already link to my website. If I make a changes on my Google+ account will it affect on my website? If I will change the custom URL does it automatically update the status of my Google+ account which link to my website?
Does anyone receive advisory from Google+ team same as mine?

I created a unique url for my Google + page, and it works great! Instead of directing viewers to a string of numbers, my Google + id matches the name of my website (savedwedding). Either one works, so you won't have to change it on anything you've already submitted.
It makes no difference. You still have your original ID# which is kind of a noodle soup of numbers. It's just to help people remembering your ID

a vanity URL is not just vanity, it is a good thing to put on cards, in emails, etc. etc. Do it! But only if you are reassured by what has been said.
I got the same email from google and was surprised because I have no idea why suddenly I was eligible for a custom link lol It def. looks to be a google email but since I don't use google plus for much anyway I totally ignored it =). I think people can still find me if they want to and thats all that is important lol.
There is no danger. The orginal link is pointed to the new one or vice versa. They use a redirection method. I have used it for a while now with no trouble.
its in my inbox i guess it is legitimate. I just don't know if I really need to make some changes or i just leave it.
You are probably just fine leaving it for now. Shortening your URL is nice but not necessary. I would keep it as is until you know with out a doubt it won't change anything.

If your account is 30 days or more old, you have 10 followers, and a profile picture you are eligible to get your custom URL. I think it's much better than the string of numbers!
