Counting Our Blessings

Here we are mid-week or in some cultures, known as Hump Day. If you’re anything like me, you’re likely counting the hours until that imaginary bell of 17:00pm Friday rings so you can feel free to live your life even if only for the weekend.

The problem is you, like me, have found ourselves in a boring corporate job, an experience I like to call ‘counting the hours’.

It hasn’t always been the same. There were previous jobs I absolutely loved and looked forward to getting up in the morning and rushing to work to actually start working.

But not every job can give you that same sense of fulfilment.

I found myself, in my mid-thirties, in a new job I really didn’t like. Gone was the excitement of waking up to go to work. For a while there I wondered if I’ll ever find that same spark for doing a job well again.

Until I found Wealthy Affiliate.

How blessed are we corporate types who don’t like their jobs, to have something to look forward to during our lunch breaks or in the early evening? Or as soon as the kids go to bed?

It has been more than a couple of months now that I’m a premium member. I have my first niche, my first website and I’m almost done with my training. My site already has a number of posts my fellow readers can choose from.

Each new social media follower is like a new friend whom you’ve just met and are ready to start communicating with. A comment on a social media post is better than the feeling of a tasty lunch. Especially when it’s another human being thanking you for your tips you just posted.

The research I do for my posts give me the much-craved need to be creative. I jot down ideas and think of what to write about next.

And that is the true blessing of living with purpose. I feel so blessed these days that I have purpose in my working day. I have got my sparkle back. I look forward to what each day will bring. What creative activity would I be engaging in. Who would I be communicating with on social media. What topic would be of interest to my (mostly future) readers?

My corporate job now is just the bridge to get me to my dream work place where I’ll be in control of my own time and efforts. Where I’ll have more time with my kid. Where I’ll be doing a job I absolutely love.

And for that I feel so blessed. Thanks WA.
