I think this is the effect you are trying to create: Creating A Category Page See if that solves the issue.
Regarding blank pages and categories, if you create something, then delete it, past links will go to an error page. You need to re-create the menu link or sidebar link, or whatever you have crated with the new proper link. If you've deleted a bunch of stuff and aren't sure what was where, you may just need to re-make your menu. Hey, dear good folks! I have a question, or two, about the small details that make all the difference on our website.
1. Where can I see how many views I have on a post?
Kyle will show you how to install Google analytics later in the lessons. Jay has many webinars on how to dig into the details of that as well, so you'll be able to analyze your data at a granular level.
For categories, you can change the name of your default category, but you cannot remove it. Sounds like you already changed it. To avoid having that category, you'll need to add more categories, then uncheck the default and check the one you want.
There is an option to add more categories right under the category box of each post, or you can add them in the "Category" area, which is linked under the Post/Page menus.
You can use google analytics to see how many views your site and posts have had.
As for the categories then before you publish a post then on the right-hand side in the editor you will have the option to put that post into a category of your choice.
