A Longer Hiatus Than I Ever Expected

Guess who is back? That's right! I can't believe it's been over a month. I've just been really lazy and my vacation did not help me. I like structure and routine, but I'm not the greatest at getting back on track once I have completely been blown off the path of tenacity.

So, I have been putting this off for a couple of days and decided to just sit down and start writing, something I haven't done in quite some time.

I plan on getting the ball rolling again and by the end of July be back on track to what I really want to happen.

I Took a Week Off

Now, as for my vacation that was a trial in and of itself. I'm not an outdoorsy person, and we went camping in the Black Hills of South Dakota for a week. It was gorgeous . . . and what felt like freezing at night.

There was car problems and a drive that normally takes 8-9 hours took us 17 on the way back home. Other than the car and the fact that I was camping in a tent with the bathrooms a full block away it was wonderful.

Hopefully the family doesn't want to do it again next year. I feel like I'm still trying to recover.

So, I figured since it was almost the middle of July that I would show what little I did in June.

There is however some wonderful news! I gained my first couple of referrals for WA, so if you're reading this thank you so much for signing up!

What I Accomplished in June

June wasn't the best month for me. July isn't going to be the greatest either, but I will be pulling myself back onto the bandwagon and buckling back down. Expect a not so great review for July, but I plan to be back on top in August.

  • I wanted to post 13 articles. I only did 8, which isn't too terribly bad.
  • I wanted to be 2-3 weeks ahead. I'm barely a week ahead now, so that didn't pan out.
  • Complete 4-8 lessons. I did a total of 1.
    • Granted this next lesson is how to produce YouTube videos and I am very self-conscious about putting myself on screen for the world to see, so I've been procrastinating.
  • Watch 4-6 training replays. The easiest thing on here and I did not a single 1.
  • I wanted to get my South Dakota blog post and pics done and up. The blog is typed and ready to go, I just need to get the photos and the video up.
    • Yes, my first true YouTube video is going to be my adventures in South Dakota.
  • Watch 2-4 movies. I originally wanted these to be in the theatre so I would be out and about, but I stayed home and watched movies, so I guess that kind of counts.
    • I also watched 3 movies while traveling to South Dakota, so this is a win for me.

So, yeah, totally bombed in June, will most likely bomb in July, but it has shown me that once I get on top of something I have to stay on top of it or I will be completely trampled and left in the dust.

My Goals For July . . . What's Left of It

So, what do I plan on doing with the rest of July?

  • Write and publish 8 posts. That is 3 a week for the rest of July.
  • Be at least 1 week ahead in my posts
  • Help the newcomers and make sure they understand how to use WA
  • Turn out 2 YouTube videos.
    • My video for South Dakota counts as 1 and I may do an About Me video
  • Complete 2-4 lessons
  • Watch 2-4 training replays
  • Go out and see at least 1 movie in theatres
  • Dust off my DVD collection and watch 3 movies in the comfort of my bedroom
  • Take up jump rope once a week
  • Update all of my content by making sure I'm linking to the correct posts and pages

I believe that these goals are completely doable and plan on getting myself into the zone and working it out.

Just writing this little article has helped me revive my passion and help me get past whatever rut I happened to be stuck in.

I read a post on here, but can't remember what the title was, but they were right. When you happen to be stuck distancing yourself from the community is a bad idea.

I'm back and plan on sticking it out for the long haul. This should be easier to do since I don't actually have another week of vacation for at least a year.

Wishing you success and happiness on your journey.

Take care,

Michelle/Anne

Hi

I've just had a break too, partly as I was feeling a bit rough but now I am back and ready to get started again. Sometimes a break is needed and I don't think you should beat yourself up about it.

Best Wishes
Hazel

Hello, Hazel.

Welcome back. Thank you for the cheering up. I hope things go great for you.

Take care,
Michelle/Anne

You did an awful lot. Don't worry. Sometimes it's about enjoying the process. We're all going to have months where nothing gets done. Life can get in the way. Good luck for August!

Thank you for the encouragement. I hope the rest of your July goes swimmingly and you have a fantabulous August.

I have been away too. It seems like you did a lot in June anyway. Best Wishes for your July!

Thank you so much. Best wishes to you as well!

Hi, Michelle. Welcome back! I've missed you. Was your vacation as bad as you anticipated it? From your post, it sounded like you did enjoy some of the time, except for the camping and long hike to the necessary room!

I'm still working on Lesson 1 of the 3rd level because I haven't had time to write the post needed for the next step. However, MY HOUSE IS FINALLY LISTED! Had my first showing today, and they stayed for an hour and a half, so I guess they must have liked it.

I'm going to have to start looking for an apartment, though, because the place I was planning to go isn't going to have a unit for me until about the first of the year, and I don't think it's going to take the house that long to sell. Will keep you informed of my goings on.

My next big project now that the house if finally ready is to get my fairy garden figures out from under the porch, cleaned up, and set up so the front of the house shows better than it does right now.

Also need to trim all of my rhododendrons. Did get the forsythias trimmed, but nothing else. The elk are eating my lilies again this year. Two years ago, they ate every last bloom and bud and left the tall stalks and leaves. This year they are nibbling on the stalks and eating the leaves about 1/2 way down. And of course all the blossoms and buds. GRRR!

I have the research for 2 articles for my website done, but need the time to sit and write the articles and find the images. Hopefully next week I'll be able to focus on that a little more than I have been. I've had my research out, have my outline in place, but haven't written a word of the body yet!

Take care.

Carol

Hi, Carol!

I've missed you too! It wasn't the worst vacation I've been on, but it took me like 3 days to adjust to everything and be able to sleep comfortably. Let's just say that I wouldn't mind going again in a couple of years.

I'm so happy your house is finally listed and you got the kitchen finished! I am a bit bummed that the place you want to live won't have anything available, but I hope your house sells fast.

I'm sure you'll be able to get the garden looking just the way you want.

I have found that a $25 Logitech headphones with a mic from Walmart have helped me out tremendously. I use the free talk to text software on Google Docs and it has cut down my time spent typing. It's not perfect by any means, but it has definitely helped. I was able to shave off 30 minutes of note taking by just saying what I wanted to type.

You'll get it. No one needs the hectic schedule I put myself under, but I adore the challenge. I used to do that when I worked in a plastic manufacturing factory, but that is a story for another time.

Good luck on everything and take care!

Michelle/Anne

I had some good news from the apartment today. There are 3 people in front of me who have been offered the unit, and they are going to call me Wednesday afternoon. Cross your fingers for me!

I'm looking forward to getting out in my fairy garden. I have several plastic storage boxes full of cute little things I've found at thrift stores and will be developing a story for them. Some of them from last year, including my camper pulled by 2 pegasuses (or is it pegasi?, the farm scene, duck pond, complete with a "duck crossing" sign, the beach featuring NC's 7 lighthouses, and "rock hounds", a coaster wagon filled with rocks and a variety of dogs, among others.

I'll write a post about it when I get it finished and some pics taken.

Really tired and planning to get to bed earlier than usual.

Nitey nite!

Carol
