What do you need to run a successful business

Part One.....Jealousy and Greed, seem to be the 2 most destructive emotions leading to destroyed relationships and some very bad decisions. I was just reflecting on this today. Even Animals are possessed with these emotions. Who hasn't known a greedy dog or one that becomes jealous and possessive of attention. We accept that animals are greedy, it is part of their self preservation, not sure what part jealousy has in self preservation but it's there. However, when it takes over a human, it's rather ugly. When businesses fail, it is often Greed at the base of it's failure. The business owner, in an effort to make money fast, takes short cuts, makes hasty decisions not based on careful research. Greed is at the base.

An old saying, 'don't count your chickens, before your eggs are hatched', is very very true. Yet, as wise and old as that saying is, it seems it is still the cause for a business to fail to thrive or to tank completely. From the Bigwigs like Trump, who have risen and fallen dramatically, to the small entrepreneur who bites off more than he can chew (another old and wise saying), Greed is not your friend.Jealousy often comes into play here too, one sees what someone else has and takes it another step further into Greed.

I remember a couple of local business men, with separate but somewhat related businesses. I worked for one of them and he was a very arrogant man (proud and condescending). These two men were doing well on their own, but got Greedy, decided to combine their forces. For a little while they seemed to be climbing the rungs of the money ladder and then came the spectacular crash. Both were bankrupted and many others lost their jobs (my brother one of them).

Greed convinces you to overreach, to throw caution to the wind, to dispense with common sense. In this day and age, we are very lucky to be able to do research rather easily though Google, yet many people these days are being foolish still. They are not doing the valuable research that is needed for success, their eyes and ears are closed, open only to their own ambitions. Combine that with a lack of patience, That is a grand recipe for a crash. I have always been a very cautious person, not given to grand gestures, not one to take large risks at once. This has stood me in good stead. I have had a successful home business for 23 years.

Why did mine succeed where others have failed? I have asked myself that question sometimes, and I have the answer. I will cover that in my next blog. Here in WA, none of us are taking a huge risk, for a minimal cost per month, even lower if you pay yearly (which I did recently), we can build up a business or two or three online. It's a different story if you have to stock merchandise but I have not chosen to go that route. On my next Blog I will describe what I had to do to make my home business successful. It was not pretty LOL!

Greed is self serving and you cant run a business on that. A tip Maddy Break your content into paragraph sized chunk separated by white space to ensure the reader pulls in the flow.
