My name is Chip Shapiro. I am 64 years old (2017) and 2 years away from retirement and I want to travel more than I currently am able to. Lots of places I have not been. I am married and have two adult children. My son is a doctor and my daughter is a paralegal. I have 3 grandchildren also. My wife is retired and I hope to join her in that adventure before too long.
I have been playing around with cameras since the 1970s and have had some of my pictures make it to the Italian Consulate in 1978. I am the unofficial photographer at work, but that role is diminishing as time goes on, as everyone with a phone can take a picture.
I am a golfer but spend more time on the practice range than the golf course, but the practice has paid off when I do make it to the course.
My first career was fixing cars and I did that for 37 years starting in 1970. I worked on mostly Japanese cars, Datsun, Nissan, Infiniti, and Lexus. In 2005 an opportunity opened up and I became an IT (Information Technology) professional. I did both fixing cars and IT work until March of 2007 when I was put on full time IT. 10 years later I am still at it. I am an IT Director In charge of two locations with one assistant.
I suffer from Sleep Apnea and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and have been using a CPAP machine or over 4 years. Using a CPAP machine is not an easy task (mostly it is about the mask, not the machine) as you may know if you have been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and have tried wearing a mask and have given up. It took a while but I now am able to keep it on all night every night 7 days a week, 365 days a year. If you are having problems, stick with it, change masks, do whatever is necessary to continue to wear your mask or use whatever device you have so you can get the sleep you need.
Lvsysop's Goals 3
Money I would be happy earning
50K a year
Money I would be ecstatic earning
100K or more a year.
Time I'm willing to invest to achieve my goals
I would like to say as much as it takes, but that is not realistic. I would like to work at least 2 hours a day possible more on the weekends.
