It did not take me long because I knew what I love doing. I do try to keep the name as simple as possible for branding purposes on my main site. On some product sites I try to make it related to an aspect of the products. Try to focus on things you know and love.Could be products, lifestyle, hobby, knowledge any number of things to choose from. Make a top ten list. Then go to ubersuggest.org and enter keywords. i.e. Outdoor furniture or patio furniture, it will give you the top searched terms for those words and will add words A-Z to the original term. It will give you a sense of what searchers are looking for related to those words. That is usually where my wheels start turning. I copy and paste from the list generated, and pick and choose keyword phrases that will become titles to articles within my site. From there, I go to jaxxy and check the numbers. I look for those with QSR under 100 and then, armed with low QSR candidates only, I go for the terms that have the highest searches with below 100 QSR. I usually take all of this low hanging fruit. Some, I will buy the domain of that phrase, if available. I can use those for landing pages, or article titles, etc which will be used to also get them to the main site. It's a process but works for me.
I've been working on mine for much too long, do not do the same. I'm going on 45 days, I've come up with quite a few selections and narrowed the list down but I keep thinking I can do better, and like the others are saying below, it does not matter, it is the content of your site that matters, and I am beginning to get it, because I want to build a website and I need to get on with it.....and Kyle and Carson say it from the beginning, ACTION!
it took me about a day, i looked up some key words associated with it and brain stormed a few and picked the one i liked best : P
Hi Kelly, I've actually owned my domain name for over 3 years now. It wasn't too hard to choose one, although it doesn't really "target" my site. I love it anyway, lol! I'm not sure what kind of ideas you have for a niche but I'm sure you'll choose a great domain name. I like the idea of asking others for ideas if you are having a hard time choosing a name.
Hi Kelly, the shorter and more memorable the better, don't worry what it is, after all, amazon don't do river trips, apple don't sell fruit, get the drift?
Lovelylass... You should check out the book "Art of the Start" great for budding entrepreneurs.
Part of it explains how we think so much over stuff like Names, logos, etc... and the person who cares most about that is... US... and how often we deliberate so much over the stuff that doesn't actually make the biggest difference.
IMHO... I'd say punch forward on something, or start a quick idea session for names with the folks here... and just make an imperfect step forward.
Imperfect action is always better than inaction.
Sorry this sounds a bit preachy :)
There's probably not a "perfect name"... but in general I'd go with something short, and easy to remember.
There's loads of successful websites and business with horrible names, horrible logos, even horrible site designs... but great content and value.
Drop a quick blog with your ideas and ask others for ideas... crowd source style.... pick one and continue your march to greener pastures!
Agreed - imperfect action is always better than inaction. I wrestled with mine too then just did it. It will be a learning experience either way so dive in and learn. From imperfection comes wisdom!
Hi Kelly, I understand that you want it to be just right. It is what you're putting out in front of the world. As long as your name is not foul, illegal, or insulting, it will not affect your results too much. if at all. Take some time to think of one, but don't let it be a stumbling block to your process. After all, like I've remarked before names like Google, Bing, Amazon, Ebay, did not have keywords in them when created or identify what they were about. Now they are well known with tons of traffic. Really it is your content that is going to control what happens with your website. Best wishes on your endeavors

It took me a while to come up with a name and then after watching the website info and just watched it and followed through with it, I came up with a different name as you learn a lot about the website building and it will just click after you do the exercises to create the website.
You will get it from your keywords.
