Google adsense - Pros and Cons

Hi there,

It's been a while since I posted due to Christmas, my three year olds birthday and having uni exams right after (which are now done thank god!) :D

So I just wanted to share some of the pros and cons I've found with google adsense so far.

I've had it on my main site for about three months now and really not seen much revenue at all. Then one day I looked on and I was like 'wow' I made £1.50! 😆 I signed in on my laptop to try and check stats and suddenly there's a warning saying that my adsense account has been put on hold for policy violations and that I should be careful as to how I gain my traffic as false traffic can get my adsense account suspended?!

I waited a full thirty days for it to be deactivated and then had to go through the set up process again, they reviewed my site and now ads are back in place. :)

However, is all this stress and extra work worth it for approx £1.50 every three months?! Lol.

To be fair I have two sites and one of them has adsense, which has around 25 posts and has had around 300 unique visitors, so I guess I need to amp up the volume before I see any increased adsense results.
I guess what I'm trying to say is if the volume of visitors is there then yes, even if one person per day clicked on an ad you would make say, approximately £2.50 per week, but I definitely recommend building up your site before applying as you won't see much coming from there otherwise.

I would also be Very careful of how you attract your visitors and keep it in line with the policies they have, as otherwise you will come across the same problems as I did (which to be honest, I'm still not exactly sure what went wrong).

Just keep writing and positing and make it worth your while! :) I am working on my new site mostly this week and after building it up I will be applying once more. I'm going to try keeping this site Amazon free actually, and see how it goes because to be honest I am not seeing much difference when promoting their products and have turned to a different network.
anyways, back to it and thanks for reading. I hope this info is a bit of help to you also!
Take care,

Louise x

I think you will find the a way to make it work friend. Everyone approached their ways differently. Some people do affiliate links and skip it completely then add pure blog contents, then affiliate links, then write pure blog contents again and see very good results. In reality, I think those people who get very good results, write about what is trending at the moment. It's all about capturing attention when it's at the highest level of interests. Thanks for sharing. All the best!

Thanks for that! I was actually just wondering last night about testing that out, and just going with affiliate links instead of ads on some pages to see what works best for my site. I know you can exclude pages from adsense can’t you, that you don’t want their ads on, so I feel a little experiment coming on! :D All the best, and thanks for the feedback. :)

Good information - thanks!

You’re welcome! Hope you’re doing great :) x

I'm glad you are back in the saddle, Louise, and thanks for this important information!

Jeff

I'm glad that all is coming together for you, Louise! Best continued success!

Jeff

And the same to you! Much appreciated :)

You're very welcome, and Thank you!

Jeff

Hi Louise, thanks for sharing. I don't have it on my site as traffic is too low yet. But what are the illegal ways to attract traffic as far as they are concerned? I didn't realise there were wrong ways.

The thing is, I wasn’t too sure myself either as wasn’t aware I was attracting such! 🙈 lol I think maybe it’s because I had no visitors then started advertising all over my social media so saw a big increase in a short space of time. And as it’s a new site with new google ads maybe it flagged that, which is why I say now it’s probably best to build up the volume and traffic to a consistent level before adding. It could have been something entirely different as they don’t tell you specifically but this is the most likely answer I can come up with.

Ah okay. Thanks for responding.

Thank you very much for sharing. Lisa

You’re welcome! Hopefully it helps some of the newbies not get as stressed out with google adsense as I did lol! :)

I’m sure it will my friend
