I don't know the SA culture specifically but there are so many strains that are resembling my own Trinidad and Tobago culture.
'You are my chili, my roti, my Eskimo pies. I would rather have you than the Lotto first prize'.....Can't say it better than that.

Hahaha, Hugh, you totally got it! Brilliant!
Isn't it amazing that people can be from all different parts of the world and be so similar?
So glad you enjoy it.
Blessings
Louise

Yes we are so connected and perhaps far more similar than we actually realize. I really loved this post Louise. Keep it up.
Blessing right back at you,
Hugh

Yes louise, I concur with you. Sharing our culture is part of the business here. We shouldn't hide were we came from. Thanks so much for the poem and belated Valentine's day wishes.

Hi Godspower
So glad you appreciated this "cultural share" - it really did make me giggle.
Blessings
Louise

Hi Louise
The warm fun loving South Africa comes through in the poem.

Also, as an ex English schools rugby union player myself (1960s), I became a fan of the Springbocks when (in my opinion) they overtook the All Blacks with an unexpected impact on World rugby in the early 90s. :-)
Richard

Hi Richard
It really makes me happy to see you appreciated the SA Valentine fun :-)
Oooh, Springboks! Now you're talking! It's been an incredible journey for them since world rugby opened up again - and so much over-the-top-fun to be a supporter! In 1995 they taught SA how to party as one nation when they won. We literally danced in the streets ... everyone got out of their cars and just partied, dancing with whoever was closest to them. It was a defining moment for South Africans of all races.
2019's final saw my sister by choice and me drive back to Johannesburg from the South Coast because we didn't want to miss out on the vibe. The journey was filled with much laughter and celebration, we sang to everyone who would listen (tollgate operators, other customers at the quick stops, the staff at the petrol stations). We arrived in Johannesburg at 3am and were up ready for the match by 9am. When the Bokke won ... well, you can just imagine. Neither of us had much of a voice left! The All Blacks are my number 2 team, if anyone has to beat the Springboks, it better be the All Blacks :-)
Thank you for taking me down memory lane - life was so much simpler and it feels like yesterday but also millennia ago that we could all be together like that.
Blessings always
Louise

I’m looking forward to the British Lions touring SA next year. That’s always special.
:-)
Richard

Absolutely! I wonder if we are going to have to watch from our homes though ... that will be sad.
Ah well, we do other socializing on Zoom - maybe it will be the way forward for rugby too, lol!

Yes. With luck SA will be under control by then although I suspect social distancing will still be a thing.
:-)
Richard

I am already so conditioned that when watching a movie and see folks aren't wearing masks or they hug I flinch, haha!

Thank you so much for sharing this, Louise!
Belated Happy Valentine's Day!
Best wishes,
Joyce
