As members of the Wealthy Affiliate University, you have the opportunity to add an SSL Certificate to your domain name for FREE! This gives you a huge lead on the competitor.

What is a free SSL Certificate?

SSL = Secure Sockets Layer
TLS = Transport Layer Security
Both often referred to as SSL

The SSL protocol aims primarily to provide privacy and data integrity between two communicating computer applications.

Advantages of SSL

• You offer your visitors a secured private connection
• The connection ensures integrity
• Every message is transmitted using an authentication code to prevent data loss
• Google Starts Giving A Ranking Boost To Secure HTTPS/SSL Sites

Checklist for SSL

1. Click the button on: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites
   
2. Check your SSL here: https://www.whynopadlock.com/
3. Change your Google Analytics settings
4. Add property on Google webmaster tools
5. Send in a new sitemap, also to Bing
6. When you do this training, it will lead you through point 2-3-4: The Switch to SSL, Some Things to Remember
7. There will be a redirect for your http to https, but it looks nicer when you change all Social Media advertising and email advertising links.
8. Check your site again: https://www.whynopadlock.com/
9. Still having issues? Add a plugin, you find on this training: SSL Activation - No Padlock - Mixed Content - Google Search Console
10. Check all your posts and pages separately if they have the green padlock.
11. Check all widgets
12. Check all comments
13. Check the Pretty link plugin
14. Check your galleries and sliders
