The Awesome Impact Quora Has Had on My Website Traffic

Greetings WA friends!
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Laura, and I have been with WA for nearly two years and maintain a couple of websites, one of which is successfully converting and earning affiliate income. That website is You Can Learn How to Code if you're curious and want to check it out. I rank on the first page of Google for a couple of different search terms, so I now get some organic traffic.
My most lucrative traffic, however, has come from Quora, which is a social media platform for questions and answers. I was named a Top Writer on Quora for 2018 and even had one answer achieve viral status (250,000+ views). Due to my success there, Quora has since become one of my most powerful inbound marketing strategies. Since the platform has been so beneficial to me, I wanted to share some tips with those of you who might be interested in adding it to your marketing mix.
My strategy:

A few times each week, I answer questions related to web development, which is my niche. On at least one of those posts, I add a link to one of my related blog posts. Those who provide meaty, helpful, and in-depth answers often have their answers featured first. This is important in case someone viewing the questions and answers decides not to read all of them. I will also mention that I probably add links to my blog every third post. I don't do it with every answer, which I think builds trust.
Benefits:
- High rank in Google for keyword research. While Quora will probably never outrank Wikipedia in a Google search, there are plenty of search terms for which you will see a Quora questions and answers on the first page of Google. If you provide an answer to such a question and someone clicks on the Quora link, they are likely to see your answer especially if you choose to answer a question with fewer than 5 answers.
- A great way to build trust. One of the reasons why I believe my Quora traffic converts well is because I can answer questions in an informal and conversational manner. It is as if I am having a conversation with one person and focused on helping him or her and allowing others to listen in. I can hone in and say things like, good luck with your job search, I wish you well as you attempt to learn Javascript, etc. This does wonders for disarming your target audience and getting them to trust you.
- Opens you up to an international market. I have Quora followers from all over the world, and my activity there has opened my website up to a larger reach.
So, if I have you convinced to give Quora a try, here are some tips and some things you need to be aware of:
- QUORA DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO USE AFFILIATE LINKS IN YOUR ANSWERS. I repeat: do not paste an affiliate link anywhere on Quora or you will very likely get banned from the platform.
- Your first consideration must be to help rather than drive traffic to your website. I once made the mistake of providing a skimpy answer with a few different links to my website embedded in my answer, and guess what? Quora moderation deleted my answer and warned me not to spam. Lesson learned! Just as we are taught here at WA, helping others must always be our priority.
- Having a good profile is important. You can use your Quora profile as an inbound marketing strategy as well, as long as you don't add too many links to your website. I have a few, a couple of which I've marked as FAQ. That seems to work well for me.
If you decide to give Quora a try and have any questions about how to get started, I am happy to help you. Here is a link to my profile if you want to check it out:
