Kyle's Video On What He Learned In The Last 14 Years
As part of Bo's mentoring group, our first assignment was to watch Kyle's video and provide 5 things that we learned from the video or looked at differently now that we watched the video. So here it goes. I hope that this may be helpful to someone.
Why People Fail at Affiliate Marketing?
Why do some people succeed at affiliate marketing while others fail miserably? I liked Kyle's answer to that question. It made a lot of sense to me. He said some people fail because they focus on the wrong things. Approach it as a business from the start. A new business needs time to grow. Don't expect instant success. Also, be willing to put in the time it takes and focus on the human element first. Focus on your customers and helping them, not on the money. In time the money will come if you put the focus on helping people first.
Approach Internet Marketing With The Correct Mindset
You need to approach your internet business with the right mindset. As with any business, it takes time to grow. It also takes awhile to build trust with your customers. Don't go into it expecting to make money in a few weeks and get discouraged when that does not happen. Remember every business started somewhere. They were not an expert in their niche overnight, it takes time. Always remember the core of your business is the people.
Don't Chase Every Shiny New Object
It is important not to get distracted by too may things. Stick to one thing first until you have mastered it. You can hurt your success when you are not focused. Remember to stick with the training and go step by step. There are a lot of marketing techniques out there, but master one first before you move onto the next shiny object.
Immerse Yourself in Your Niche And You Won't Run Out of Ideas
Kyle says to continually do keyword research on your niche. You can also visit other sites or discussion boards in your niche and see what topics people are discussing. You can then write content around those topics.
Do Not Fear Your Competition
Do not fear the competition! Remember every website started out just like yours. They didn't have authority overnight. They earned it with time and patience. Get it in your mind that "Someday, I will be the competition." Slow and steady wins the race. Just because a website is bigger does not mean that they are earning more than a smaller website. It was encouraging to me when Kyle stated that small websites can sometimes do just as well as larger sites.
A few takeaways from the video:
1. Be patient
2. Don't give up
3. Be willing to work hard
4. Don't skip any of the steps in the training
5. Take advantage of low hanging fruit to get good rankings.

Excellent points here, Lisa. The big lesson for me was "don't chase every new shiny object." Oh goodness, that really hit home. Something I had to change quickly! Great post, Lisa.
I wish you all the best,
Sue

Thanks for the information Lisa. I'm still trying to learn everything I can. This is all new to me. Affiliate marketing is like jumping in the deep end for me. I have little knowledge of computers, internet and social media. It's fascinating to me. I'm loving every minute of it. Always enjoy a challenge. Keep us informed.

Nice summary;
By the end of today, I don't think anyone will be unfamiliar with that video.
