On the Right Track - A Husband's Perspective

Finding our Fit

My wife (Lisa) and I started on WA just three weeks ago. We are both pretty lacking in the computer tech area and were skeptical of being capable of affiliate marketing, let alone building a website. We thought this was a task for a paid professional with years of experience.

So off we set, hesitantly starting starting the free module and found that everything was incredibly well explained and mapped out. Everything just flowed and we found ourselves progressing easily. To our amazement we soon had our own website up built around a combined passion of ours - trail running.

After three days of getting through the free module we were so happy with the program and the ease in which you are directed to your next task we signed up for premium. For the first time in a long time we had found something that just "fit".

When we have needed feedback or guidance we are amazed at the response time to our queries. Once we asked a tech question on site help and received a response in 4 minutes!

Now at the end of our third week of our WA journey we are excited and keen to progress forward with the training and building our web page.

To us the WA program is not like going to work each day thinking "here we go again.." It is exciting, well mapped out, progressive training that gives you confidence each day that your progression is real.

I know this is quite early days on this journey, but thus far we are thrilled with the progress and the fun factor that WA provides.

Looking forward we are keen to keep improving our website up to where it is an attractive site for people to come and receive helpful advice and information about all things trail running. We are prepared to focus on that and know that it will take time, but by doing this the ranking and traffic will flow eventually.

Our goal in the next three months is to continue adding content, finish the modules and start to have some marketing on our site. The following three months after that we would like to have over 100 posts completed and be looking at our first trickle of income.

For so long we have heard many people repeatedly advise that you should pursue an area you are passionate about. It seems we have taken the long route but are now well on the right track - or should I say the right trail :-)

Looking forward to the journey.

Andrew.

I agree. I enjoy being here and always learn something new and feel like I can accomplish something every day.

How is it going for you guys?

Jessica

Thanks for your comment Jessica 🙂 We are travelling along well, albeit a little more slowly than we had hoped. I actually just re-read the above post which was a nice reminder of where we’ve come from. Definitely a big learning curve with a few bumps along the way but we are excited to keep forging ahead. Definitely a great place here at WA to continue learning and growing.

How is your journey?

Lisa 🙂

Hi Lisa,

I am super busy with the rest of life since I have a regular job as an adjudicator for the State of Alaska Dept. of Natural Resources. I issue water use authorizations to all the oil and gas companies in the state and it is going into ice road season so I am swamped! I have requests for hundreds of sources right now.

My husband and I also have a 4-plex. We live in one unit and rent out the other 3. We bought it zero down with his VA loan a few years ago. We also manage a 6-plex downtown which has been a nightmare. For example last night we went into the unit which has finally been all remodeled and there was water leaking out of the ceiling. So we were stuck digging into the ceiling and trying to fix it for the night until we could get a plumber today. Everything in it is old and needs to be replaced. My Mom bought that building and we manage it for her.

My husband has a regular job as well. My websites don't get nearly as much time as I would like but considering that, I am really happy with how they are doing.

I have 2 active sites in pet and human health and nutrition and I am building a 3rd site for WA promotion.

Slow and steady is not a bad thing here!

Jessica

I had never heard of trail running so I G'd it. It kind of sounds like mountain bike riding without a bike. What a great niche.

Your last image reminds me of a lake my wife and I hiked to from our base camp at Lake Resosco in the Emigrant Basin Wilderness area in California. It was called Hyatt Lake.

We were on the trip with another couple. This was a pack on the back hiking and hopefully fishing trip. Anyway my wife who had never fished in her life ended up catching the biggest fish on the trip ... a huge german brown trout about 20 inches long.

You're going to love WA Andrew.

Thanks for your comment Dennis :-) Our hike was in the South Island of New Zealand. These treks our in nature always leave lasting memories don’t they.

We are enjoying our WA journey and building our website very much.

All the best to you :-)

Congrats you are on your way. I think it's wonderful that you are taking the WA journey along with your wife. Best of luck to you both.

Thank-you so much. Yes, we both feel very fortunate we are in a position to build this together. Luckily it's also a niche we are both passionate about.
Best of luck to you too :-)

Sounds great to me...keep up the excellent progress!

Thank-you kindly!

Great post, you definitely have the right mindset - realistic, but positive and ambitious - to be very successful with affiliate marketing. I've been here a little less than three months and I can tell you that I'm learning (and enjoying it) just as much now as when I first started.

Best of luck to you both, and if I can ever help out in any way here, don't hesitate to reach out.

Jordan

Thanks Jordan! That's good to hear, wondering if there might be a "honeymoon" period as it still seems too good to be true.
Really appreciate you reaching out :-)

Good luck both
Jappy travel roads!

Thanks Fleeky! Much appreciated 🙏

Welcome...
focus on the road

Well done Lisa like you I think the training we recieve here at Wealthy Affiliate is superb plus if we do get stuck the community are always available with helpful advice.
Good luck in your online business

Thanks Graza,
Absolutely agree, the community environment is outstanding. Really feel supported and surrounded by positive people.

You are starting with the right mindset.
It really is a step by step progression.
The tortoise and the hare always springs to mind.
Slow but sure will always come out on top compared to jumping in and getting through the lesson/training at breakneck speed.

Do this and you WILL make mistakes and being new to working online you wont realize you are making those mistakes and probably mess up big time.

I wish you well in your endeavours and your eventual success.

Onwards and upwards to that success and have an awesome Friday.
Robert-A

Thanks Robert! Some great advice and kind words, much appreciated.

No probs and enjoy your day and the weekend to come.
