October website income report

October whizzed by and I really didn't have time to add as much content as I'd have liked. Still, my site is largely populated with most of the basic content that I wanted to add and I've hit a bit of a brick wall in writing terms. My "day job", i.e. my real job, teaching, is inevitably taking up most of my time at this time of year.
Also, my Mum's been ill and so I've had to spend a lot of time driving to her, looking after her and staying with her where I don't have a computer to use has simply meant it's been impossible. But the internet will always be there and my Mum won't, so that's just how it is.
So, as for income and outgoings (I'll do a separate post about traffic).
Outgoings:
One year of WA membership: £281.87
A huge amount of money for me in one go but saving 39% on the year, it's worth it.

Income: total £38.40
AdSense (Google reinstated my account on 17th Oct): £1.86
PubMedia adverts: £6.14
WA comments: £30.40
Balance: -£243.47
Ouch. That hurts. But I shouldn't need to spend anything else until next July when it'll be time to renew the domain registration. Of course, I might decide to invest something in it. Definitely considering either Twitter or Pinterest adverts but I'm shifted my thinking from "I must make this make money ASAP" in July to deciding to treat this first year as a learning experience.
And there's so much to learn. Learning what to prioritize is probably the hardest thing. I'm bombarded by calls to action in my inbox and on my phone. One thing I've learned already is to either follow something up and read it do it right now, or close it/delete it because if it's important then it will reappear. I'd got to a stage where I had 84 tabs open in Chrome and "follow up and sort tabs" as a reminder in my calendar that I just couldn't get through. So I've closed them all and am sort of hitting reset.
I pushed my site really hard for the first three weeks of October, using Buffer to tweet my blog posts three times a day, using Tailwind to do the same for Pinterest, and trying to do the same with Facebook.
Black Friday and Christmas coming up mean I've got some serious work to get done but it's all a bit of a struggle right now. All I can do is try my best.
