The Dongle Rip Off.
The other day I had to spend a fair bit of time In a place that didn't have WiFi, So I thought would take my dongle and do some work on WA.
My wife had bought it for me about some weeks before, just for this sort of occasion.
I went along to the shop that had sold it to her, and asked if they could activate it. The girl had a look at it and told me that the 8 gig memory had run out. I told her I had never used it. Then she told me it had run out of time and only had 4 wks on it when it was purchased.
My wife was never told this when she bought it. I told the assistant that I wanted a dongle with memory that I could use until the memory ran out. I was told that such a thing did not exist and they all had time limits on them. She wasn't happy when I told her to throw it in the bin and that they should explain a product completely before they sell them.
There was a new IT shop close by, so I went in and related my problem. The guy told me it was an easy fix and that I could actually use my phone to do the same thing by "Tethering it" either by USB or Bluetooth. It took us about 30 secs to do it. It worked perfectly. I will sing that shops praises to everyone I can tell the story to, and will never go into the other shop again and I will bag them to the max.
All the first shop had to do was say "look" we can't help you but if you go two shops down the IT guys will help you out, because you can do it on your phone. They both would have won.

Explains just why customer service is so important...I don't mind being told that somebody can't help me but I would still recommend them to others if they were truthful about it.

I never knew that about a dongle, thought it did not run out till you used it up... glad you found a better option
What a load of rubbish!! I hate it when peoe don't explain properly what you are getting - and how unuseful is that product. Glad you got it sorted out though! :)
Good customer service always wins out! I sometimes need to use my phone for tethering when the phone line here goes down (happens quite often in rural area).

Thanks for all the comments guys. Some people just don't get it. I can't stand bad service. I could write a book on the number of restaurants I've walked out of. I now am surrounded by a panel of experts that I can recommend to anybody and I know they will do a good job.
