Conversation Marketing is a Communication
By Arnold Lakhovsky - The Conversation (~ 1935) Wikipedia
Conversation is a Communication Both Ways, mutual attention and understanding between two people, not monologue (I wish my ex understand this... LOL.)
Conversation is a form of dialog (di - two, logos - a word [Greeks] exchange of thoughts, feelings, etc. in nice manner (social etiquette.)
"Conversation is an interchange of sentiments or ideas between two or more persons, usually upon a subject worthy of attention." - The Scribner-Bantam English Dictionary.
"Conversation is a form of interactive, spontaneous communication between two or more people. Typically, it occurs in spoken communication, as written exchanges are usually not referred to as conversations.
The development of conversational skills and etiquette is an important part of socialization. The development of conversational skills in a new language is a frequent focus of language teaching and learning..." - Wikipedia
For certain reason Conversation online embrace many different forms but for Automation of the Marketing Process it need to be mostly in written word (Email Marketing.)
Guru says: Most imported skill for IM is to master selling by written word.
In Internet Marketing I have meet term Conversation Marketing, is close to Dialogue Marketing and Content Marketing.
"Dialogue marketing is based on the premise that engaging consumers in relevant and personal conversations is more important than ever. As technology arms consumers with new ways to ignore messaging, disconnect from branding and disengage from the marketplace altogether; marketers believe that connecting on a personal level with consumers who do or will buy because the company resonates with them helps companies differentiate themselves and stand out as leaders in the marketplace." - Wikipedia
It is more wider subject but in short: three of those similar terms reflects new tendency in marketing in general, in opposition to old school of pushing marketing.
Simplest way: Provide a Value HQ Content First for Customer (build relationship) then Advertise Product.
Check this out, most popular def. of Content Marketing I see online is from CMI - Content Marketing Institute:
"Content marketing is a marketing technique of creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action." - Joe Pulizzi (founder of CMI)
[His book "Epic Content Marketing" is a thing a must read - for IM's.]
