If you're a Canva affiliate or want to become one Canva has announced new affiliate terms.

If you're an individual non-creator you cannot be part of the Canva affiliate program.

To be considered an individual creator and be part of the Canva affilaite program you must meet the following criteria:

- You must create 1 piece of Canva-related content or training per month.

- You must have a social audience of at least 5k followers on one of these channels:

Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or Twitter and identifies with one of these personas:

Social media content creator, Workshop facilitator, Webinar/podcast host, Course developer.

So, if you're a non-creator and have been making affiliate commissions just promoting Canva and can't meet these new requirements your commission will stop.

Of course there is nothing stopping you from meeting these requirements if you want to.

The offical sunset of the current affiliate program is on July 21, 2023.

You can read about thier new affiliate program here.

I love being an affiliate but this is the down side of being an affiliate. You're never fully in control of your business.

So, you have to always be prepared for change and learn to roll with the punches.

I believe in you!

I am a Canva Affiliate. This does not worry me because I meet the criteria. The platform has a right to define the participation of an affiliate. I get messages often from programs that have changed without asking me. If the changes are good, I stay. If I don't like the changes, I move on.
Jim

Well said, Jim.

I will continue to love Canva and reapply when I meet the revised criteria.

Simple.

Cassi

Thank you for sharing this, Leo.

I am a Canva Affiliate and we had an internal "heads-up".

You are right.
As Affiliates, we are not in control of these kinds of decisions.

Canva has niched down and they are moving ahead to narrow their focus even more.
If you think about it, It is similar to some of the changes Kyle and Carson have made it WA.

You just cannot be everything to everyone.

Cassi

Agree or disagree it's their affiliate program and they can do as they see fit. And you're right you can't be everything to everyone.

With that said I feel for the non-creators that are already making recurring affiliate commissions that don't meet these new requirements who are going to be hurt.

I am one of those, Leo, and I am looking for other Affiliate programs to fill that bucket.

I think of it as one of my brick-and-mortar suppliers deciding to change their offerings.
It happens.

Better will come.

Cassi

Yep, it happens, the upside of being an affiliate is how quickly one can pivot

Absolutely, Leo!

Have a good weekend.

Cassi

You as well

Thank you, Leo.

Good morning Leo,

Thank you for the heads up, I'm not actually a Canva affiliate, even though I think it's a great platform! It's something that I have thought about promoting though, but I think that's just been shelved for the moment. It might be something I can do as my YouTube channels grow.

I must admit those terms and conditions seem rather harsh, especially if you are someone who has been making sales! As you rightly mention, we are not always in full control of affiliate programs.

Last year I had a good affiliate program close, I must admit, that has hit me hard as they had excellent products that suited my niche. There is nothing I can do, we just have to carry on regardless!

Have a great day.

Roy

You're welcome regarding the heads up. And I agree these terms are ridiculous. But it is their affiliate program

However, I feel it may come back and bite them in the butt.

I think you could be right, Leo, it could come back and bite them!

I think it's a shame when affiliates have helped to build up a business and then please bring in rules and regulations etc. It's always good to be fair and to try and look after people.

Have a great day.

Roy

Appreciate you sharing this info Leo!

I agree with you when you say "Being an affiliate, you're not really in full control of your business"

I have been an Amazon associate for a less than 6 months. My co-workers from another department wished to support me, as they were happy to learn that I became a blogger. So 2 separate departments used my website to purchase shower gifts . I had never received any commission from such purchase, as they associate my co-workers as "my friend" therefore whatever purchase they may have done, do not give me credit!
Where is the fairness in that? A sale is a sale , no matter how you view it!

Regardless, we have to roll with the punches! That's gow some business do it!

Similarly now with Canva! If you are not a creator, you cannot meet their NEW requirement!

Cheers,
Maria🌹

Unfortunately, Amazon owns many companies that if people have accoubts there AND at Amazon, they are considered friends.. go figure.

Apparentlythat's the way to gain new members, by shutting out your current members in hopes of gaining new ones...

Rudy

I'm sorry to hear that. In my opinion, Amazon is the absolute worst affiliate program there is. And I'm not alone in that thinking.

Hahaha! We share the same insights Leo! 😊

Hmmm, harrumph! I'm not impressed with this move by Canva. Not at all.

I'm in agreement with your and Kyle's comment. Hopefully they will learn the lesson and take remedial action sooner rather than later.

Thank you for sharing Leo.

Louise

You're welcome
