My First Month at Wealthy Affiliate: From Burnout to Breakthrough

A month ago, I was at a crossroads.

For the past eight years, I’ve been working as a Spanish tutor, giving one-on-one and group lessons online. I love teaching, but the workload became overwhelming. At one point, I was juggling so many students that I started to feel burned out—not because of the teaching itself, but because of the system I was working in.

Most of my students came through platforms that charged high commissions. I was giving my best, yet a big slice of my earnings was going elsewhere. Deep down, I always knew I wanted my own space—my website, my brand, and my community—but every time I tried to build something on my own, I’d hit a wall.

Why didn’t I move forward? It wasn’t laziness in the traditional sense. It was more that I didn’t know where to start, and without a clear path, I ended up spinning in circles. It’s hard to keep going when you don’t see results or even know what the next step should be.

Finding My Ground

Then I found Wealthy Affiliate. I remember perfectly well how it happened. An email from Roope Kiuttu brought me here.

After just one month, I can honestly say this has been a turning point. I'm so impressed I almost don't believe it. Only a few days after I discovered WA, I told my girlfriend, “In three days I have achieved what I have longed for years”.

For the first time, I have a solid foundation to grow my business on my own terms. I'm learning, applying, and getting results—all at the same time.

I’m currently working through the training modules (WordPress, SEO, social media, AI, content creation, YouTube—you name it), and every lesson feels like a puzzle piece finally falling into place.

What I’ve Built So Far

• I created my own website (spanishmakessense.com). Something I had dreamed of for years finally became real in days.
• I’ve published 13 posts, have 9 drafts ready, and a long list of ideas waiting their turn.
• My site is optimized for SEO—before, the first time I tried it, I was just throwing content into the void, hoping someone might find it. Now I have a clear strategy and I know how the things work.
• I launched an email marketing system using Substack, which helps me build loyalty and keep in touch with visitors.
• I opened an Instagram and Facebook page to start building my online presence across platforms and generating more traffic to my website.

But beyond the tools and training, the biggest surprise has been the community. This place is always awake. Literally. There have been nights I couldn’t sleep, posted a question at 3 AM—and got a helpful response in minutes. That kind of support is priceless.

Looking Ahead

I’m still in the early stages, but the plan is simple: keep learning, keep posting, and keep showing up—consistently. Even if it’s just a small step each day, I know now that every action compounds.

Next on my list:

• Finish the traffic training (WordPress, social media, AI, YouTube, etc.)
• Keep growing my content base
• Develop my brand voice
• Connect with my audience regularly through email and social media

The Bumps on the Road

Of course, it hasn’t all been smooth. I installed a plugin that broke the layout of my site (lesson learned: less is more!). I also spent time trying to set up MailerLite, only to realize the integration wouldn’t work the way I needed. That’s when I pivoted to Substack—and honestly, it’s been a blessing.

Final Thoughts

This first month has taught me that taking action—even imperfect action—beats waiting for the “perfect moment.” Wealthy Affiliate gave me the structure, the tools, and the support to finally move forward with the vision I had buried for too long.
