New Experience Creating Videos

Hello, dear WAers, I hope you are all having an amazing weekend.

I'd like to share my new experience with you. Some of you know I have a YouTube channel in the same niche as my website and recently I've started making videos again (after a break). Having no experience with video editing, I would only be able to make videos with my phone and upload them to YouTube (that's what I did on my old Czech channel).

I got to the conclusion that videos where I'm just sitting and talking are boring, but at the same time, I know that videos have a big potential so I was trying to figure out how to make them more attractive. So I started doing videos with visuals and voiceover, without being on camera. My boyfriend prepared the visuals and I recorded the voiceover on my phone. Then he put it all together, added some music and it could go public.

I still thought that the videos should be more lively so I convinced my boyfriend to do a video where we both talk. I still did about 80% of the text but it's different than reading it all on my own.

It took us more than one hour to record the 5 minute-video.

It is a huge step for us. We've often talked it would be nice a to have a shared project. Each of us has different strengths and weaknesses, as well as preferences, and we could build up on that.

He likes creating videos, spending hours looking for visuals, music and compiling it all together.

I like searching for keywords and learning about marketing, writing, and video SEO. And doing thumbnails for the videos.

For SEO in YouTube, I use VidIQ, the free version.

I have to say it was not easy to convince my other half to do this, because he thinks his English is not good enough. Well, of course it's not the same as mine, but I have many years of experience talking, teaching, writing and translating.

I believe everyone can improve in everything if they're willing to and this way we can do that. Also, when recording the voiceover, we had a lot of fun.

This is the thumbnail of the new video I created in Canva:

The video just went public on my YouTube channel. It is also my first scheduled video - another new experience. I hope the accent of my boyfriend speaking English would not be too disturbing. He's not happy with it and says he can't listen to his voice :) I think he'll improve in time. First steps are always the hardest, aren't they?

I can't share the video in this post but you can find my channel in my profile. I'm interested in your opinion!

Love

Lenka

Hello Lenka,

I was blown away by the amazing quality of your video on the heath benefits of some incredible sounding teas. So much fun to watch. I am surprised it took you only an hour to make it. I would have guessed at least four.

You had to get all those video graphics together that was so effective. What editing tool did you use?

The shared commentary was a brilliant idea as it helped to add spice to the mix. You should be delighted that your boyfriend has a stringer accent than you. Our business is INTERNATIONAL! That adds authenticity.

I have only one recommendation. I wished the audio for your boyfriend was set to math the volume of your voice. His voice sounded so distant. It needs to be up front and center just like yours.

Other than that, I think you are on to something amazing. Keep up this approach. It looks so professional. You have every reason to be proud.

CONGRATULATIONS Lenka!

Cheers.

Edwin

Hello Edwin,
thank you for your nice comment, it's really nice to hear that the video looks professional and is entertaining.

Regarding the voice, you are right, we made a mistake that I had the mic on and that's why my boyfriend's voice sounds a bit distant there. Something to improve!

The program we use is Filmora, it's not free but well worth it. Plus I have the pro version of Canva.

As to the time, it took one hour to record the voiceover. To put the visuals together, then add the voiceover, some on-screen text and all the work around YouTube settings, that's work for many hours.

Thanks again.
Cheers,

Lenka

Glad to hear, Lenka! I must confess one of the reasons I haven't opened a YouTube channel is because I don't like my voice on video. Not just that, but as you mentioned, making a short video requires an enormous amount of time. However, the more I think about it, the more I convince myself I'll eventually have to do it.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Hello Enrique, you are right that it takes a lot of time, especially in the beginning, even if it's not such a complicated video like these what we make now. But it is worth it, there is much less competition regarding SEO in videos than in blogs. You can rank with much more generic keywords there.
When you start, I can give you some advice if you want :)
Have a nice day,
Lenka

I'll keep it in mind, Lenka. Maybe starting next year. 😊

Hi Lenka,

Congratulation for your accomplishment. As you said, the first steps are always more difficult, but you did them so, it is the time for a tiny celebration. Don't you think?

I always say that collaboration makes things easier, more fun, and more efficient. In my case, the partnership is with my son. He loves to edit music and videos, so we combine our skills to do the work.

I wish you much success in the future.

Hugs~
Diana.

Hi Diana,
that's nice that you collaborate with your son, you have a big help in your endeavors too.
You are right, it's time for a celebration. I usually forget to celebrate small sucesses and it's not right!
Hugs,
Lenka

Go for it!👍 Have an amazing week ahead.

Diana.

Hi Lenka,

Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I've really launched my own channel like just 3 weeks ago! Your experience will for sure help me (and others as well). I didn't even know there was an SEO tool for YouTube :D!

Another question, which video editor are you using? I'm using DaVinci Resolve and Imovie. DV Resolve is amazing but slows my computer down a lot! And Imovie is faster but doesn't have all the neat tools...

Hi Virendra, that's awesome that you're starting your channel too! Let me know what's its name.
My boyfriend uses Filmora, it's similar to i-movie but a bit more advanced. There are so many programs!
Yes, SEO for videos is essential. You can use VidIQ or TubeBuddy, they are both similar and good even in the free version.
Let's keep in touch!
Lenka

Mine is called, The Yogi Life For Me, I've already subscribed myself to your channel.

Thanks for the SEO again! I really need to check my titles!

I subscribed to your channel too. I do yoga too but not professionally, only go to classes once a week.

Thank you! :) And good luck with your channel! And enjoy your yoga classe :)

Despite what you say I believe between you two you have all angles covered that is what counts. Tell him from me that his accent doesn't matter according to a report on a wide ranging survey that was done a couple of years ago that should encourage him a bit...lol;

Think you are very brave and very talented to have plunged in and arrived where you are. Saw it as soon as you posted on social media!! ;

Well Done! Again and sure there will be many more!;

R.

Thank you very much, Rami! I will tell him, in fact, I keep telling him all time that his English is not bad at all, all he needs is to speak a bit louder and maybe more cheerful :)
I believe there will be many more...we will keep posting.
L.
