Lovely time with a friend I met at WA
Hello, dear WAers,
this is just a quick post about a lovely holiday we had last month in Spain. As some of you know, I love Spain and have been going there every year on holiday since 2015. In 2020 I met a wonderful lady, Taetske, on this platform because she is a dog and cat lover just like me and we exchanged some e-mails.
We went to Spain in September and were invited to spend some time at Taetske's beautiful and huge house with a lovely garden. We enjoyed spending a day with Taetske and Michael very much and were invited to come again next time we would go to Spain.
This year, beginning of June, we went to Andalusia, Spain, again and we spent three days and nights with our friends. We made trips to Ronda and to Mijas, driving around the picturesque countryside. Ronda is an astonishing city built above a gorge, the views are really breathtaking. You can see some pictures of Ronda below.
In Mijas, a typical charming white village, we had a delicious meal in a restaurant overlooking the main square. The cover image of this post is from there. We also visited a museum of miniatures in Mijas, something very special. Here are just two pictures of many I took:
It is really a pleasure to spend time with like-minded people and we are looking forward to seeing our friends again next time we go to Spain.
I know it's a difficult time for travelling now but If I ever go to another country I would love to meet up with some of you. Same, if anyone of you comes to the Czech Republic where I live, let me know and we can arrange something :-)
Have a wonderful day, all!

Hi Lenka, Taetske and Michael are truly warm persons. We loved our visit there as well. :)
Beautiful pictures you made. Ronda is quite interesting, isn't it?
How was traveling and crossing borders? Did you need tests or a QR-code? I am still hesitant to travel abroad because of all the fuss and the different rules that apply.
It's marvelous you had such a great time. :)

Hi Hannie, yes Ronda is breathtaking.
As to the travelling, we didn't have any problems. Tests were required officially so we had them from CZ when we went to Spain but no one asked for them on any border. On the way back we got by without any.
It is a fuss and the rules keep changing but I still think travelling by car is far easier and not so under control like when you fly. I wouldn't go anywhere by plane at the moment because I would be afraid that some despotic officer could send me for another test and as they are not reliable, it could show any result, and then they'd send me to quarantine.
I still hope the craze will be over next year and we can travel freely again.
Have a nice day!
xx
Lenka
Ah, thanks. What would you have done if they had asked for some proof on the way back?
I don't fly out of principle (which will be difficult because my husband wants to go to the US, LOL); in Europe, we always travel by car. :)
Did you stay in hotels (apart from your lovely stay with Taetske)?
You have a great day as well,

We were prepared to undergo the testing if they insisted on it (Spanish/French border) but we got by because we said we were only transiting France. Also, I always expect and visualize things how I want them to be, I know it sounds strange but it does help :-)
We did stay in a hostel in Mojacar one night and also 4 nights in Nerja in an apartment. No problems at all. People even didn't bother with face masks (on the streets and in supermarkets yes, but the accommodation owners not).
You are like my boyfriend, Hannie, he also doesn't want to fly so we always travel by car. Now it's the only way to travel without hassle though.
LOL, so if you just transit you can't infect someone, given you'd be ill. For the past 15 months, I keep being amazed by what the thoughts around this virus are.
Oh well, as you said in the first message, let's hope it'll pass in a year's time.
Nerja! Lovely. I have friends living in La Herradura whose house looks at Nerja. So nice in the evening when all the lights are blinking. :)
I think it's wonderful that you got to see her again. She's such a wonderful lady. Your photos are beautiful! What a pretty place!
The Czech Republic has been on my bucket list for a LONG time. My dad was Czech and my mom was Hungarian. I'm 1/2 and 1/2. My grandparents came over here after some of my aunts and uncles were born. They each had 14 children. I can't even IMAGINE that but I guess that's what they did back then.
I'm still trying to track family roots but will let you know if I EVER get a chance to get there.

Debbi, that's nice that you have Czech roots! If you ever come to the Czech Republic, let me know! It would be nice to meet each other offline.
We live not far from the Austrian and Slovakian border, in a village near Brno, the second biggest city in Czech. A nice countryside here as well but my dream country is Spain :-)
Have a nice day!

Hi Lenka!
That’s wonderful you and Taestke met up again. How nice to hear WA members meeting up in person.
Wow, those are gorgeous pictures. I can imagine all of you had a great time. That’s great you’re able to travel now. Someday, travel is something I’d like to do regularly (once I achieve a true digital-nomad status).
Thanks for sharing. I hope all is well on your end.
Regards,
Eric
Hi Eric, nice to see you after a long time! Yes, it was a lovely time and I wish we could go on such trips more often.
Being able to become a digital nomad and travel is a dream of many, it's a nice goal. I haven't achieved a high income from my activities but small commissions keep coming and it's a nice feeling, that's for sure.
I hope all is well with you as well.
Cheers,
Lenka
Thank you for sharing, Lenka! It is very nice to hear about your holiday in Spain. If you ever think of coming to the States for a holiday, come to Southern California and stay at my place for free! PM me. I have an impending trip to the Far Ear this year but because of the pandemic it has been delayed.
Cheers,
Evelyn
Thank you so much for your nice invitation, Evelyn! I wish travelling was not such an issue now, especially flying. Actually, California is my favorite part of the U.S., I was there 20 years ago but only in LA, Vegas and San Diego, only for two weeks. Let's hope the pandemic craze will be over soon and we can travel freely again.
Lenka
Yes, I have been waiting for Covid to clear. Hopefully, the US, UK, will be able to provide billons of vaccines to countries needing vaccines. It appears to be working. California is fully open and most states.
Yes, if you wish to come to California, let me know. Will be nice to know and meet someone from WA in person! Maybe there is a WAer in SoCal who maybe interested in meeting in person. Send me a pm.
Cheers,
Evelyn
