Is It Ok To Ask For Help?

Here at Wealthy Affiliate we have learned that getting help is SO easy. It doesn't matter what it is that we need help with, we know someone knows the answer.

Is it OK to ask for help? It most certainly is. It is actually a part of the learning process. Imagine if you were a part of one of the other programs where you were not able to get help.

Ye Shall Receive

This isn't just to those who have just started, this is for all who need help. When you ask a question or are stuck with something and you ask for help, what do you notice?

Do you notice that no one answered? I have seen this happen. But not very often. This may be a "changing of the guards".

If you didn't get an answer in a few minutes I would suggest asking again. Since the members here are from different parts of the world, some may be just signing on or just signing off.

Your request may have gone un-noticed but not ignored. I strongly suggest that you ask again to ensure you get assistance.

There are times when the notification doesn't show up that someone needs assistance. I have had this happen to me on occasion as well.

Our Response

I have noticed that sometimes a question may need a little more clarity. This too stems from members being from different parts of the world.

Language can cause it to be a little difficult to word a question/answer the correct way. If you don't quite understand, always ask for clarification.

Our response is directed at how the question has been taking. This is why you may see " I am not sure what you are asking, are you asking.... and if so.....".

Some of us may do this so that if you were asking what we think you are asking, then you have your answer. If not then normally at the end of the reply will be " I hope this helps, if not let us know".

Therefore, if it didn't help you need to let us know so that you can get the right answer. We won't know unless you tell us. This brings me to my closing.

Did You Get The Problem Solved

When you ask a question it should be YOUR main priority to let the community know that you have received the answer.

If you have asked for clarity on something specific, it should be YOUR priority to let the community know if you have received this.

Anytime you have asked for someones help, no matter how or where, you should always let them know that you received their response and if it helped or not.

Everyone here is busy with their sites. If a member takes the time to answer your question or give you clarity, advice or whatever it was that you needed, you should let them know that you did see it.

Most of us may take the time to answer you question thoroughly, which means it takes time. Time that we could have been working on something else.

Don't get me wrong, we love helping others. Have you noticed that you might get more than a couple answers?

This isn't just because there are that many views on the answer, for some it is because they don't see a response from you.

If there are no "like" buttons clicked from you and no response, then we have no way of knowing whether you still need help or not.

It Takes Two Minutes

If you have gotten the answer that you needed, and it solved your issue, click the "like" button to your responders comment.

Even if you are to busy to comment back to them, it at least lets them know that you have seen their reply.

If you have gotten many responses, and your issue has been resolved, just write one comment in the same thread saying "thank you everyone it has been resolved.

You can write whatever, like "thank you everyone, I understand now". You don't have to answer everyone if you do't want, BUT at least let them know you are OK now.

This is about you saying thank you and letting members know that you no longer need the help and that you did see their responses.

Don't let members who take the time to respond, sit and wonder if you got the response or if you might still need assistance.

I have seen A LOT of members who have asked for help, and then we never see anything from them until they need it again.

Many of us put a lot of time into helping the community because we know what it is like needing a little extra help.

Not for the ranking system, but because we care. The least you can do is let us know that you DID see the response.

Clicking that "like" button is something that should come natural. It does a lot just by that one click.

Thank you for taking the time to read and as always, I appreciate any questions or comments. I love responding to whatever it might be.

Wishing you the best in all you do

Lee Ann

We should always respond to those who offer us help.

Derek

Yes Sir.
I know new members don't really know their way around or how everything works, so hopefully this will help them to get in the habit of clinking the "like" button as well as leaving a comment.

Thank you Derek : )

Hey LeeAnn,
Thanks for explaining this to many!! I know people like to help but we also appreciate it when we know that our help is no longer needed!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Yes Ma'am it does.
It is also common courtesy as well : )

Thank you Elaine.
It is a pleasure to see you.
Lee Ann

Thanks, Lee. I will make sure I respond to those who have submitted answers to my questions.

Crystal that is awesome.

I am not sure if you saw what Marion replied.
But I failed to mention that if you comment on the one that gave you the right answer then if someone else has the same issue, the question AND answer will be there together and they know it will help them as well.
Thank you for being an awesome member : )

Hi Lee,
Guilty as charged, rarely have I mentioned that I have had an answer to a problem, least I do not think I have, point well made.

Thank you my friend.
I love your honesty.

It isn't something that everyone knows how much these simple little things can make things easier or harder for others.

You have always answered me :)

You are much appreciated.
I hope your business trip went well.

Great blog, I’ve certainly asked my share of questions and seemingly have more daily. Which often get answered by someone else’s.
Many Blessings,
Scarlett and Elaine

Thank you Scarlett and Elaine.
I really appreciate it.

Sometimes it is also hard to find q question and answer similar to yours as the comment threads can get quiet long..

Thanks for the great blog Lee! I think I'd be off on another planet somewhere if I'd never asked a question here at WA. Will make sure I let others know from now on that I'm outta the woods!

Thank you Sue,
I think we have all asked our share of questions.

It is hard to keep up with everything, especially when we are busy.
This is something that will help many.
Much appreciated.: )
