Baby Steps
As I have progressed through the Wealthy Affiliate training so far I can honestly tell you that I have learned an incredible amount of information about keywords and getting ranked on Google, as a website owner for many years, and a web design enthusiast, I will be honest that none of this is new to me, but what I have found is that in my quest to get ranked (and find traffic) the majority information on the web either costs so much it's outside my budget or is too deep and tedious for the average end user to grasp or understand.
I love to help others, and that's been the largest point of me coming back to WA every day since I started the training, I see people ask a question and my instant thought to most is 'Oh I know that, let me give them a hand' - and it's a great feeling receiving a message back and reading the words 'Thank you'
One thing I can't stress enough is that you need to take baby steps, I often get through the training and see that I need to create more new content, and with my busy lifestyle (which is 90% work 20% everything else) I often find that I need to put WA on the back burner until tomorrow or even just for a few hours whilst I tend to my daily duties.
This is actually how my very first website post came about, I had taken a break from WA and my Niche website (Amateur Photography) to run some errands and during my drive I was trying to think about my first post, what it should be.
Writing for a blog can often give you a common thing authors get, 'writers block' - you sit here with the task in hand of creating a rich and engaging post - yet you have no idea what to do or where to begin, so you consider just throwing some random content up just to finish the lesson. This can and most likely will lead to poor post quality.
So during my drive, I was telling myself 'Back to basics' and my first post Best Digital SLR Camera For Beginners came about, I had remembered when I was first getting into the digital age of cameras, and there were literally thousands out there, my father who I consider to be a phenomenal photographer was a Fuji owner at the time, he had transitioned from film and developing his own negatives in a home made dark room, and gave me the pros and cons of his DSLR camera.
Doing my own research and such, I fell in love with Nikon, and I remember people asking why I loved it, to which I realized I had merely chosen a product based on what 'advanced photographers liked and disliked' - I knew nothing about photography at this point, I knew how to point and shoot, literally.
So, I started trying to mimic photos online, achieve the photo trickery that other photographers apply to their compositions and voila, over years of practice, I found I was often called upon to take photos of family and friends events and such, little did I know, my work was enjoyable to others.
I guess the main point to this blog post is just this; Don't rush to get through the course work, there isn't a time limit, there isn't more of a reward for finishing first, the only reward to come from everything is that you take your time and apply yourself to create engaging content and follow the rules with the help provided and you will, like others before and after you have the success you desire.
I haven't made a penny yet, but I've also only spent the $19 (WA's first month) and $9 on a domain name, and I won't lie, I don't expect to make a single cent over the next month or two either, simply because I'm limited on the amount of time I can commit, the amount of time our niche websites take to be indexed and found through search engines.
But I do feel that it will all come together in good time, and only then, will I know if I have followed my own advice to create, rich engaging information to help others, and in return be rewarded with some income through online sales with affiliate marketing.
Best of luck to each and every one of you, if you ever need help please don't hesitate to ask.
