Read It, Watch It, Listen to It, Take It and Do It Again

Ever watch a movie you really liked a second or a third time and notice things that you just didn't see before?

I certainly do.

Three of my favorite movies are Smokey and the Bandit (the original as the rest were not worth the film they were recorded on in my opinion), JAWS, and Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon - all of which I have seen at least 30 or more times (Hey, don't judge me ; ).

I know most of the words of the scripts for each character in each one. Yet every time I watch one of these movies again I see something new to me that somehow I just never noticed before.

Training and learning works the exact same way.

Repetition and Practice Brings Clarity

I have taken and completed countless courses and live in person trainings over many years - so I know this is true as a student.

Some of the courses I enjoyed the most (just a few) included;

  • Shipboard Firefighting
  • Marine Corps Combat Pistol Course
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC)
  • CDL (Commercial Drivers License) Truck Driving School
  • Real Estate - Principles, Brokerage, Law, Finance
  • Real Estate Investing Courses (Numerous)
  • Scuba Diving
  • Skydiving
  • Martial Arts (Karate, Tae Kwondo, Hapkido)

Some of these were more academic and classroom-focused and many others were hands-on physical training focused.

In all cases - when first introduced - there was an initial period of uncertainty. Then with instruction, repetition and practice the things that were initially unclear or difficult soon became more focused and made more sense.

Some of these things are deeply engrained and almost rote skills that now function on a subconscious level almost automatically.

Even those skills once learned and not practiced now for years - are still there and should the need ever arise for those skills again it would be instantaneous and almost automatic responses because they were practiced tens of thousands of times over many years until they were deeply engrained.

Marketing, Sales and Related

The same principles apply to everything in business - whether on or offline too.

The more you do it the better you get over time, so long as your initial fundamentals are correct to begin with.

Wealthy Affiliate provides you good fundamentals. The repetition and the application of those fundamentals is entirely up to you.

So practice. Do it again and again and keep taking action and soon it will begin producing the results you want - in time.

Yet just like all other things, you will not be able to simply do anything once or twice and be a master of it - life doesn't work that way - like it or not.

Have a great day, and make it count, and always remember -

Wow thanks for sharing, these couple of sentences in particular:

"The more you do it the better you get over time, so long as your initial fundamentals are correct to begin with.
Wealthy Affiliate provides you good fundamentals."

It's always reassuring to hear both of these things, so thanks again, a good reminder about practice/repetition, and putting in the work to see the results.

Thank you for posting and how true it is. You will always find something you missed every time through repetition, whether it's viewing movies again and again, or going through the training over and over. In primary school many years ago we would have to repeat our times tables over and over parrot fashion and the result would be that the times tables were instilled in our brains.Great post.

Hey LD, some classic films you have mentioned here, I too have a few favourites which, I have to admit, I have probably watched way more than 30 times each!

But it's true, how ever much you know something, can you really know everything?

There is always something new to learn, no matter how many times you have done or watched something.

Enjoy your day my friend!

I had to laugh when you spoke about watching a movie more than once...Planes, Trains, and Automobiles I've seen at least 25 times or so. Karate Kid, and a few more that come to mind, but you get the gist of it.

And it's true. When we first start out with any new task, we have some trepidation. Then as we progress, we feel more confident.

Practice makes perfect.
