When do I hoist the white flag

So when do I throw in the towel and hoist the white flag. I am so determined that I want this to work, but I feel so despondent. I started my online journey nearly a year ago, but so far I have had zero success.

My niche is eco-friendly and sustainable living, which I have realised is almost impossible to monetise. So I started a second website, based on the training from the bootcamp, and even there I've had no success.

Where am I going wrong?

Where am I failing?

I keep on going back to the training and just feel I'm going down a rabbit hole.

Any pointers or encouragement would be greatly appreciated

Looks like you've gotten some great advice, so I won't confuse the issue. My only suggestion is that you don't quit. You take a breather and a break. Study up and go at it again. I think Diane has it nailed. Content, content content! Hang in there! We're behind you all the way!

Christine

Thank you Christine, I am not a quitter by nature, so will continue trying.

You’ve gotten some great advise from other people. I too would recommend you check out Dylan’s posts and trainings about using best of lists.

Nathaniel (One More Cup of Coffee) has a lot of posts on his websites about different affiliate programs that are available in different niches. If you do a google search for affiliate programs in eco friendly or sustainable living niches; you will most likely come across one of his posts. He might have some suggestions for an affiliate program that you could get super excited about.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will certainly follow the advice that I have been given and look at your suggestions.

I hope you have an awesome week.

Hi - I took a look at your eco site, as it is mentioned in your profile. As far as I can see, you only have 33 articles in the space of 11 months. That is nowhere near enough to show Google that you have any authority in your subject. Ideally, you should be adding a minimum of 2 posts per week. By now, you should be at nearly 100 posts.

And as Phil @feigner has suggested, its a very broad niche, and your topics are all over the place. One minute, you are talking about bamboo flooring, then sewing machines, then baby's diapers. You need to narrow down on a specific area.

Its a similar story with your bootcamp site, only 10 posts in 5 months. This is an incredibly competitive market and can take up to 100 posts before you have any success.

It is very time-consuming to keep adding content to two sites at once. As it appears that over the last year you have struggled to add enough content, then trying to start a second site may not be a good idea. Ask yourself honestly, do you have time to write four high-quality posts every week as a minimum, two for each site?

Your writing is very comprehensive, so that is not the problem, it is simply lack of content.

Great comment, Diane.

I hope Line absorbs what you're saying and doesn't take offence.
So many people take things personally when their work is constructively criticised.

I've had some great ideas from people who have left me feedback.

Thank you Diane, I will continue to add posts. I have currently 18 drafts that I am working on and will try and narrow down more as you suggest. It does take me on average 3 to 4 days to write each posts, so will need to make work of that as well.

I very much appreciate your feedback Diane. I will also look at Dylan's training that was suggested to me and continue to create content.

Why would you think sustainable living can't be monetised? It's huge.

If your second website is MMO then you will have a harder time than the other site you have.

Go onto Pinterest and search for sustainable living and eco-friendly living. You will find loads of great ideas believe me, and they can all be monetised.

Hope this helps,
Mark

Hi MArk, thank you for your suggestion of Pintest. I only very recently came across Tailwinds and tribes, so will certainly explore that far more.

Hi Line,

Don't ever give up on your passion.
And never think because you're not earning any money "yet", it can't be done. IT CAN, and is being done all over the web.

Have a look at Dylan's training: Fully immerse yourself in the strategies that are successfully used, and you'll always earn money.
It's just a matter of finding what works and what doesn't.
You now know what "doesn't work", now change your tack.

Hope this helps Line, all the best for your future.

Cordially
Dedo

Thank you very much for your encouragement and I will have a look at Dylan's training
