Anybody else got the news from Amazon

So did anyone else get the news from Amazon.
Big drop in affiliate fees scheduled for April 21st.
What the fee schedule was in the first picture.
What it is going to be changed to in the second picture.
Like we don't have enough trouble making money with Amazon to start with.
I have a feeling they are going to end up completely doing away with the affiliate program in the future.

Never saw Amazon as an main income stream , would be good to earn a few extra bucks ,but now with these adjustments
it might not be worth your time..
This is ridiculous... I am glad I sold my Amazon niche blog and started the WA affiliate program.

This should help everyone to move away their reliance on Amazon to other affiliate programs and networks. In recent years Amazon has not put affiliates first, which is evident with these recent pricing updates.
They may go back to their old structure, but they are also in a position right now where they are operating on margins that are not profitable, although their sales volumes are out of this world.
A ripe opportunity for other merchants that want to take their affiliate programs to the next level to jump on board.
I got the email too.
They're slashing product commissions that used to be 8% to 3% (home improvement products, pet products, Lawn and garden) and products that used to be 5% to 3% (Outdoors and sports).
That's pretty bad and people are going to lose more than 50% of their income.
Glad I stopped being an Amazon affiliate.
Thank You for jumping in Kyle. I had already been trying to find another route to take.
I will probably be leaving Amazon as soon as I find something else to replace my links with.
Already have EBay and a couple of others but they're not much better.
Amazon has so much money they don't need us. They could buy and distribute any products they want themselves, even to the point of manufacturing a lot of them in house.

Well they got where they are at as a result of affiliates. The problem is their shopping platform is operating on thin margins, and affiliate commissions are eating into that.
In order compete in a cut-throat manner with their competition, they aim to improve margins through affiliates.
If you are using Amazon, it might be a good time to look into alternatives. There are lots of really great affiliate programs out there outside of Amazon.
I've been aware of the low commissions and 24 hour cookies since first joining WA. They were never a part of my plans unless I ran across a low cost product that everybody buys without reviewing or thinking about.
