Your Website Starts as a Blank Canvas (and that's OK)
Every beautiful website, starts off as a blank slate. I always get the “how do I make my website look nice”, and like a painting this is going to happen with a collection of small brush strokes, and experience.
Content makes a website look nice, so choose a theme design that gives you the flexibility to operate within a Blank Canvas.
Then as you build out your website, you will start to incorporate things like menus, side bar navigation, a logo, imagery, featured promo pages, advertising...and then what was once a totally blank canvas, becomes something much more significant (and beautiful).
So don't fret as you get rolling and your website is "empty". That is how all successful businesses and how EVERY single website you see online once started (including Wealthy Affiliate).
Now get out there and paint your own beautiful picture!

This is really encouraging. I have gone off track getting caught up with how to get the website to look as the picture in my mind. To point of just freezing, not moving at all. This message helps me just refocus now on learning content given and taking the steps given here first.
Yeah, don't panic about the "look", it will come together as you build out your content and learn how to properly "paint" your canvas. You are going to get there Ruachal and you are going to have lots of help here every step of the way!
A very encouraging message Kyle, and as you know I’m working diligently at it!
I find I fail sometimes and then I have a win and that tends to spur one to the next challenge!
But its the wins that keep you going and every win puts a another notch in your learning curve!
And I have to make reference to the continued help and assistance from your good self, which is so appreciated, you must have the patience of Job!
That is exactly how it works for all of us. You run into stumbling blocks on your path to learning anything and becoming great at anything, and then you accomplish that very tasks and it becomes a skill set you can leverage and lean on moving forward.
Patience + persistence will take you a long ways in business. ;)
Thanks for that Kyle, I’ve had a few stumbling blocks as you well know and I suppose more to come, but thankfully I have an abundance of patience and persistence together with that well known saying “Never Give Up” !

Hey Kyle, thanks for the message. I find myself going back and undoing things I have done through the process because of getting ahead of myself.
All of these frill's plugins etc., you can purchase do nothing for your website if you don't know how to use them.
I learned these things the hard way.
It seems like I remember hearing someone say to follow the training. LOL.
I now have some new ideas to lay my site out that will improve the big picture, even though it is still a good way from being a masterpiece.
Thanks for all you do.
Chet
It's funny you say this.
I went with the GP premium and chose one of their premade as it looked so professional with the button layout and such.
I couldn't figure it out and ended up deleting most of the attributes I loved and now have a bare bones looking site, hah hah.
I'm comfortable with that though. One of my first posts I read here was by Partha, who was highlighting one of his then newer blogs that is about as barebones as one can get. It was already doing really well in traffic, and his point was one didn't need anything fancy and we shouldn't spend to much time on that at first.
Best of luck on implementing your new ideas.
Regards,
Jason
This speaks to me. Thank you Kyle :).
I felt it when you touched base on great artists. They don't panic --- I find it easier to add building blocks faster when there's a solid FRAMEWORK (more like the 80 -20 rule).
In my case;
80% planning, organizing, and structuring
20% adding content
Thanks for the great insights 👍
Yes, absolutely the case. When you have a solid foundation and you understand the process, it is much easier to build off of that. Love your % breakdown as well, thanks for sharing your personal perspective Sipheni!

Hey Kyle. great analogy. There is one difference though. It is true that a painting starts with a brush stroke and expands eventually into a beautiful painting. However, most artists to not publish their painting until it is done and it does not get seen by the public until it is finished.
In regards to a new website, you are suggesting that it be published onto the web right away. Once there is one post or two, then technically it can become visible to the public and would not a poor looking half baked website that looks amateurish, raw, and grossly incomplete be a turn off for any in the public who view it?
I understand your point that as it grows it will look better and likely would get more traffic at that time. However, the people who viewed the site in its infancy state, would not those potential customers have a less than favorable impression? And generally, first impressions count.
Thanks Kyle
It is visible right away, and that is fine. As you build content, it will start to get indexed but it is highly unlikely that you will get any level of traffic in its infancy as you will start to gain traction within search engines when you start to build it out.
You never want to have your website in a state of "under construction" where you are holding back content, this will slow down the process of indexing and rankings.
I won't take long for your website to have substance and this will happen within the first month. In other words, the canvas won't remain empty for long.
Thanks Kyle. Makes sense. I was referring to aesthetics of the website.? Another question: using AI to write posts: is there any risk of being accused of plaigerism? Thanks
