Hey fam,

This week’s challenge is all about getting into the minds of your audience! We know how important it is to find out what truly resonates with your audience, in other words their “hot buttons”. These are things them click, engage, and ultimately convert.

Here is an example:

Niche: Health and Fitness for Busy Professionals
Hot Button: "How to Lose Weight Without Spending Hours in the Gym or Preparing Complicated Meals"

Now, we want YOU to share the most effective research strategy you use to discover these key audience insights.

The twist? We’re looking for unique and lesser-known methods, something beyond the typical keyword research. It could be anything from a niche social media tool, a particular online forum, a cool tool you use to reveal particular data, or simply an unconventional way of gathering information about what makes your audience tick, react, and buy. The more creative, the better!

How to Participate:

Step 1: Think of one way you’ve discovered what resonates with your audience. It could be a tool, a website, or a specific technique you use regularly.

Step 2: Share it in the comments below, along with how it helps you understand your audience better.

Step 3: Engage with others! Read through the comments and like the strategies that resonate with you. You can like up to 3 different entries.

Prizes:

We’re giving away 10,000 AI Credits (a $50 value) to each of the top 5 winners based on the most likes received on their audience research strategy.

Key Details:

  • This challenge is open to all membership levels—whether you’re a Starter or Premium member, everyone can take part.
  • The challenge starts on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, and runs until Tuesday, November 12, 2024, when winners will be announced.
  • Share your strategy as soon as possible. The sooner you post, the more time you have to gather likes on your entry!

Let’s tap into some awesome (and unique) research methods and help each other uncover what really matters to our audiences!

My main site is all about unbearable back pain and how to get relief. Injecting a bit of humor, especially around a serious topic like back pain, can be incredibly effective for engagement—it shows empathy and brings some lightness to an otherwise heavy subject.

I am finding a degree of success on Linkedin which is growing slowly but surely. As an example, I have just written a blog entitled "7 Life Hacks for When You’d Rather Pay Someone to Tie Your Shoes Than Bend Over.”

Anyone who does or has suffered from back pain, will know that this seemingly simple task can bring the strongest of men and women to tears. But by taking a light-hearted approach to it, I have found that people are quick to react, because they know exactly what they, and thousands of others are going through.

I suppose it's the "human touch" that we all need to get us through difficulties!

Here’s to straighter days and fewer “ouch” moments!

Michael

Awesome Michael, thanks for sharing your insights. That is great! And being someone who has experienced extreme back pain (and knowing lots of people who have also), I was in a position where I couldn't tie my shoes. Through chiro and decompressions, the problem was solved.

Relating, understanding, and then recommending solutions. The ultimate path to success. ;)

I believe that each and every one of us is a broadcasting station. Just like the radio, to tune into radio one you have to tune into that frequency from the button on the radio. You can't tune into radio two using radio one frequency.

As broadcasting stations, we have to tune into our own frequency to be able to tune into our specific audience.

So, I came to Wealthy Affiliate for a specific reason. That reason fills me with curiosity, joy and inspiration. I feel my enthusiasm welling from within. This is my tuning in frequency as well as my audience research tool.

So, to tune into my audience, I see myself at the beginning of my journey. This is my best research tool. What did I want? What brought me to WA? How do I want the platform or others to help me?

Now, I imagine that out there, there are people who feel just like me in my niche and being at WA.

So I rump up my feeling and see my audience the way I see myself. Ideas come flooding into my mind about what I want and this in-turn is what appeals to the audience that is like me.

Where do I like hanging out? What do I expect? What outcome do I want from my niche?

All this gets me to tune into and know my specific audience as good as I know the back of my hand. THEY ARE ME IN A SENSE.

So now, I take the ideas I find in myself and plug them into the niche finder and Jaaxy. Coupled with training, I then write my posts from this joy I find within me but it's automatically the joy of my audience because I am looking to identify with an audience that is looking for similar things that I desire.

It also makes it easier to make my AI prompts and correct AI content afterwards because I know what I want from the post or article.

I fully know the joy of my audience because that's also myself. Best research tool ever! I feel that this is a guaranteed entrance into my specific audience's mind in a most natural flow.

This has made my journey easier and joyful. My niche is my passion because it literally involves my passion in every one of my posts. My heart has to be in it and that is how I get into the heart of my audience.

Hopefully I have managed to express it clearly.

Cheers,
Midsummer.

I am in the niche of homeschooling. I just started homeschooling my 5-year-old this year and have learned so much from writing about homeschooling as I ever would from just reading articles written by others.

The key thing that I use to find "hot buttons" for my niche is group research. I have joined several homeschooling groups on Facebook. Now, I'm not allowed to self-promote in these groups, but I can read about what people are asking about and what their pain points are when it comes to my niche. Then I tailor my articles towards these keywords and boom!

So my suggestion, join groups on any social media to see what people who are interested in that topic are needing help with. You get it straight from the horse's mouth, and you can contribute to the group in meaningful way to help boost visibility.

I agree, Angela.
Nothing better than getting in and amongst those who are your target audience.
All the best,
Richard

Well I am learning that newsletters are creating more engagement and clickthrough rate than a typical email broadcast... which could contain a survey. I don't think there is anything better than surveying your audience and learning what they want or problems they have or help they need. And with that you can create that for them instead of wondering what it is that they want.

Things you can do:

1) Create those initial questions to micro commit (say yes and move on to the next question)
2) Allow for text input (more qualified people will spend the time to fill out the textbox)
3) Use AI to generate all this for you. chatGPT is very intuitive. You can basically use Kyle's prompt 👆👇 and the ask chatGPT to create a survey.

Offer a discount, coupon or more value if they take it. Run an ad if you want, sometimes the information you gather is worth more than the ad spend.

Love the challenge! Hard to resume in a few words, so i wrote my strategy in a blog, if you do not mind. 👀 Crush or like it!
❤️🦾

Ps
Keywords are king

Awesome Fleeky, thanks for sharing and doing so within a really valuable post. Keywords are definitely king (or queen)!
