The Power of Small Wins.
Today, I want to talk about the incredible power of small wins and how these small, consistent successes can add up to something much bigger. Whether it’s in sports, business, or life, this idea is a driving force behind achieving big results.
A Lesson From the Basketball Court
As some of you know, I’m coaching my eldest daughter’s basketball team this season, a group of 12 amazing 11-year-old girls. One of my goals as a coach is not only to help them improve their basketball skills but also to teach them valuable life lessons, including the concept of small wins.
I started a challenge with the team: each player is tasked with dribbling 200 times at home every day. The goal? To collectively reach 1 million dribbles by the end of the season in March.
Here’s the update: just seven weeks in, we’ve already surpassed 500,000 dribbles! We’re averaging 1,700 dribbles per player each day, and at this pace, we may even hit 2 million by season’s end.
The results are already showing. Many of the players are new to basketball, yet their skills and confidence have grown exponentially. It’s amazing what these small, daily efforts have accomplished, not just better dribbling, but stronger self-belief and team camaraderie.
This is teaching them this very same concept, small wins add up to a much bigger outcome (and achievement).
Translating Small Wins to Big Business.
This concept of small wins is just as powerful in the world of online business. Whether you’re just starting or working to scale your success, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by focusing too much on the big picture. But the truth is, those big achievements are the result of small, consistent actions over time.
Here are some examples of small wins you can focus on today:
- Write one blog post: Just one post can become the cornerstone of your website's content.
- Engage with your audience: Reply to comments or interact on social media to build meaningful connections.
- Learn something new: Take on a training module or read an article to sharpen your skills.
- Tackle one task: Even completing one item on your to-do list can build momentum.
- Network: Reach out to another entrepreneur or engage in a community discussion.
Each of these actions may feel small in isolation, but over time, they compound into significant progress. It’s like watching those 200 dribbles turn into 1 million.
Success Is Built One Step at a Time.
It’s easy to look at successful people and think they’ve reached the top of the mountain effortlessly. But behind every success story is a series of small, consistent efforts that add up over time. The journey isn’t about jumping straight from point A to point Z. I is about moving steadily from point A to B, then C...and onward.
I challenge you to create a game plan for your week with small, achievable goals that will contribute to your long-term success. Maybe it’s writing one more blog post than usual, learning a new SEO strategy, or simply dedicating 30 minutes a day to refining your brand. Whatever it is, commit to those small wins each day, and watch how they start to build momentum.
I’d love to hear how you’re incorporating small, tangible goals into your daily routine. Are you seeing the power of small wins in action? If so, what does that look like for you? Jump into the comments below and share your thoughts, I look forward to hearing your ideas and stories.

Love this!
I am a goal-driven individual who excels when I am able to write down a goal and then am able to check it off. I would love to see that ability here at WA.
Maybe a table for myself within my profile, or hubs, so that I could write down my goals, and then goals or steps under each of those (nest concept) so that I can check everything off as I do them and see the little steps I am taking to reach my larger goals.
This would also give me a sense of what I am doing every day and see what is working and what is not.
Here's to many small wins int he future!
Angela M :)
Yeah, that is a cool idea. We do have a "goals" area within your profile, but perhaps that should be more prominent, and somewhere when you log into WA every day. Definitely something that we can consider, as that would definitely be a useful tool here. :)
Yes, and I do use that goals section on my profile. However, I cannot see a way or place to mark when the goals are completed.
It would also be cool if we had a section that we could tailor that would be like a ‘daily tasks’ also.
Angela M :)
Yeah, there could be a better way to accomplish this. The goals is more longer term goals, versus daily and weekly organization. That is definitely something that we could better integrate into the platform here, thanks for the suggestions. ;)
Hi Kyle,
Thank you for this inspiring post! I love how you connected the basketball challenge with achieving success in online business – it really highlights the power of consistency and small wins.
Your story about the 1 million dribble challenge is such a great example of how small, daily actions can lead to incredible results, not just in skills but in confidence and teamwork. It’s a powerful reminder that progress doesn’t happen overnight but is the result of steady, intentional effort.
I’ve started incorporating this mindset into my own routine by setting small, achievable goals, like writing one blog post every few days and engaging more with my audience. It’s amazing how these seemingly minor tasks build momentum over time.
Thanks for sharing this lesson – it’s motivating and practical. I’d love to hear more updates about the basketball team’s progress and how their journey continues to unfold!
Best regards,
Tommy
Happy to share this post, and this story. One thing that I learned really quickly with this challenge is that when you establish "confidence", you start liking that very thing much longer.
We have a lot of 1st/2nd year players, that lacked a lot of confidence simply because they didn't have the basic skills they needed to achieve the outcome they were after (scoring baskets ,being able to bring the ball up the floor without it being taken from them). As soon as they started being able to do that, they loved the sport.
The same for business, when you lack the basic skills and you view building a business as one big overwhelming tasks, it is easy to get defeated. However if you work on small daily wins, and do that with consistency you will suddenly have these newly formed skill sets and the confidence that you can succeed at this. That is how it works in business a well!
Really glad you enjoyed this and I will definitely keep you updated on the progress of the team as we move closer to the 1 million goal, which I initially thought was outlandish but it is looking like we might be able to achieve it by the early New Year. Now the question is how can I motivate them to achieve 2 MILLION by March! lol
Hello Kyle
Thank you for sharing. I like the topic of this video and I agree that small wins hold a lot of power. It's important to take the time to recognize and celebrate milestones and wins you get no matter how small they are.
For example I had my own small win the other day. I made my first 3 affiliate sales through my website and I only earned $3.11 total for the 3 sales but it was a big deal to me.
The reason is because it is the first time I have made money with affiliate marketing since starting years ago and I can now proudly call myself an entrepreneur and affiliate marketer.
I also blogged about this achievement on my WA blog the other day but you might have missed it. I'm also going to find a small way to treat myself later this week as my way of celebrating this achievement.
I hope many more sales will follow but this has excited me and has given me the boost and motivation I needed to come back to work on my business. I also feel one step closer to where I want to be and to achieving my goals and dreams.
Every win is a win no matter how big or how small and I think it's important that we all remember that. Thank you again for sharing this important message with us all. I hope you have a great week. All the best to your success.
Regards
Timothy
Yeah, saw that. Congrats on the sale, and the small win...which will add up to much bigger accomplishments through time. That is what it is all about, when you think of a few tasks for today that you can accomplish, a few things that you can learn, that really compounds over weeks, months and years.
Think of where you are at now from where you started out. You are skilled, you know how to build online businesses, now it is just getting YOUR formula for success down that you can replicate and scale. I have no doubts this will happen.
Work on these small wins daily, and they will compound!
You have a wonderful week ahead as well, and I really look forward to seeing what you accomplish in 2025! :)
Hello Kyle
Thank you very much for your reply and kind words. I agree I'm now much more skilled than when I first started years ago.
If only I had stayed consistent and didn't keep giving up I could have gotten to his point a lot sooner. But it's better late than never and this has still made me very happy.
I will definitely keep on going and doing things a bit at a time. I also look forward to my future progress in 2025. Thank you so much again for your reply and kind words. All the best to your success.
Regards
Timothy
Oh I LOVE this concept! Amazing for your daughter and her team mates to have you as their coach and teaching them this. It is so important for our young people to be able to appreciate everything isn't instant, and if it can't be instantly reached it isn't a fail. This is a great hands on way for them to work as a team and also individually to reach a shared goal. How will you all celebrate their achievement at the end when you get the total amount of dribbles?
My small wins this week will be to network on here and check out others profiles and continue learning from others that way. Also by watching/reading a couple of blogs a day.
Thanks for this, it's a great reminder that small steps can make the most success...
Yeah, that is the idea here, to teach these kids small success habits at an early age and how this amounts to much bigger accomplishment (as a group, and personally). These are skills that will be highly valuable as they move forward and want to accomplish anything in life.
I told them I would throw a big year end part if they reach the million mark, I also have weekly rewards, and also I give a raffle ticket to those that reach the top 3 each week with a big prize for whoever gets drawn at the end of the year. So lots of moving pieces to the challenge, but our goal was 200 dribbles per day and the average now is 1,700...so it must be working!
Sounds like you have the small wins tackled for the week ahead, nice work! Glad you enjoyed this Eve and it is great to have you here at WA!

Thank you Kyle for the motivating post. Focusing on small steps is key to growing and seeing results over a period of time, not overnight. I agree with you and am applying small steps here as well after being gone too long. Glad to be back on board starting small with mini wins!!
Yes, absolutely the case. The small wins really start to add up through time, to something much more substantial. But if you simply reach for that ambitious and substantial goal at the outset, it feels very much overwhelming.
Big accomplishments are a collection of these smaller wins that compound. Great to have you back here Cydney. ;)
Way to go, Cydney!!
