Beer With Kyle: A First Look Into Our NEW UX!
Hey everyone,
Today, I’m excited to give you an early look at our brand‐new user experience (UX) that we’ve been working on.
Although the full rollout is still about 5-6 weeks away, I wanted to share some insights into where we’re headed and get your feedback on this evolving environment.
This Week’s Beer: Hawaii Five O – A Dry-Hopped Pineapple Wheat Ale
Before we jump into the UX updates, let’s start with our weekly tradition: cracking open a beer. Today’s beer is Hawaii Five O, a dry-hopped pineapple wheat ale from Swift Brewing in Victoria, BC.
- Flavor & Experience:
- A little sweeter, with a definite pineapple taste to it.
- Cheers to New Beginnings:
- Served in my classic Wealthy Affiliate glass, it’s the perfect companion as we look forward to the exciting changes ahead.
- Two thumbs up for this beer. From an indie brewery, this one impresses.
Introducing the New UX
Our team has been busy over the past few months reimagining the entire platform to prepare for the next ten years of online business success. Here’s what you can expect from the new UX:
- Streamlined Navigation:
- The dashboard remains your starting point, but we’ve shifted the main navigation from the top to the side.
- This change simplifies access to all features, reducing the clutter and confusion caused by multiple menus and submenus.
- Focused Training Environments:
- We’re separating core training from your business hub.
- In the new design, training modules will reside in dedicated spaces for specific topics (e.g., SEO, YouTube, PPC, AI, etc.), allowing you to dive deep into each subject without distraction.
- Enhanced Community Integration:
- Our new UX will feature clearly segmented communities for focused learning and discussions.
- Whether you’re interested in YouTube strategies, AI innovations, or any other aspect of online business, there will be a tailored environment for you to connect with experts and peers.
- Future-Ready Platform:
- We’re leveraging the latest technology for speed and integration so that the platform remains robust and responsive as new features roll out.
- Our goal is to create a seamless experience that not only supports your current needs but also grows with you into the future and the future changes that take place online.
Your Feedback Matters!
This new UX is just the beginning. In the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out further updates, especially in our training and community environments. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the following:
- Overall Design & Navigation:
- How do you feel about moving the menu to the side?
- Is the new layout easier to navigate?
- Dedicated Training Spaces:
- Would focused training environments for each topic enhance your learning experience?
- What specific topics or features would you like to see included in these spaces?
- Community Engagement:
- How can we better integrate community discussions with training content?
At Wealthy Affiliate, we’re committed to continuous improvement and innovation. This new UX is designed to simplify your journey, making it easier than ever to manage your business, access training, and connect with our vibrant community.
I am going to be sharing a lot more as we move closer to the full rollout, and as some of the new platforms are more solidified in terms of design and flow.
Anyways, you don't have to offer feedback on every single on of these items, but if you do have any feedback at all we would love to hear it. Please drop them in the comments below!

Kyle,
I think these changes look great. Something I do like within hubs at the moment is being able to check off each stage as you build site(s), so possibly a checklist so you don’t miss stages would be useful. I also agree that the overlaps between core training and other training has caused confusion previously, hubs has made it more straightforward.
Definitely like the idea of specialisation within clearly defined areas.
As always, many thanks to all and keep up the great work .
Peter
Yeah, we were thinking something like a checklist, so we are on the same page here. That was the goal with the task-based training initially, to serve like a checklist with the associated training.
We are working on some ideas with this, and we want to avoid confusion by having training behind the Hub wall, rather be at the forefront so you can learn how to build a hub, learn about WA, before you actually have to build a hub.
Lots of updates, as we work to streamline the entire platform (and update the entirety of it). A big job, but it is something that we are excited to get out there in the coming 6 weeks or so. :)
Good morning Kyle!
As much as I always hate change and dislike having to relearn what I have spent time trying to learn organizing things to make them easier to find and access just makes sense! Just like the new AI templates...I was hesitant to dig into them but once I did I have come to love them and think they make things a ton easier for us newbies to get our feet wet! So in speaking as a newbie please remember a lot of us are relatively new to the Affiliate Marketing world and are the one who will benefit the easier things are to navigate and accomplish! And just to reiterate...I'm loving WA and the community here and so glad I joined! Looking forward to all the great new developments!!
CHEERS!
Yeah, change can always be a bit frustrating at first as we get into our "flow" of what we do, and what works for us. Our goal with this is not to interrupt a pattern or make things more difficult, rather be more organized and for everything that you need to be one click away, instead of several. So this is going to be a vast improvement.
Plus on the training side of things, we have training on so many topics now, across so many different areas of WA. We want to centralize this, but also to showcase experts and contributors at the same time!
When Carson and I build anything, we always discuss (would our mom's understand how to do this?). This is our "tech" test, as they are not technical in the slightest and often times we find ourselves making updates and improvements based on that.
Glad your are enjoying WA, it has been awesome getting to know you and I think you are really going to love this upcoming update! :)
Love the "tech test"! lol My parents are in their 80's and just as bad...they don't even own cell phones!!!
Yeah, we have to program and design things for the lowest common denominator, we cannot assume technical knowledge so this usually serves as a good test. :)
Good morning Kyle,
Thank you for the update, it's appreciated.
First of all, I really do appreciate all the effort you and the team put in the dry make the platform better, I know that takes a lot of work and I'm sure lots of trials and errors and testing, etc.
You have asked for feedback, personally. I think you are changing the layout far too often, which is going to cause frustration for long-term users who are creating videos about the platform. To a certain extent, nothing has changed, but now regular users who have familiarised themselves with the existing platform will have to look for categories in a different place, etc.
Before you make changes, I would have thought it would be better to have some beta testers to really test out the platform, as over the last couple of years, the platform is constantly changing. Thankfully, we still have great training, but all it's doing is just moving it around the platform for no real gain.
Now, I may be totally wrong, Kyle, I have been wrong many times before!😄 I know the website has a terrific amount of content and functionality, which I'm sure can cause a headache at times, but I still think simple is good. I think anyone who joins a platform, it's going to take them a few months to familiarise themselves, due to the sheer amount of functionality and content in training, etc.
Despite the constant changes, Kyle, it's a great platform, with great people!
Have a great day.
Roy
I sort of agree, except I found this a fairly easy change.
Overall though I totally agree. All too often change is implemented for changes sake only.
My only gripe, lol, is that we might all start looking the same in our web blogs if we use the preset templates. I can see it now, 'oh another WA post"
Steve
Thank you for your reply, Steve, it's appreciated.
I know that Kyle and the team are genuinely trying to make things better and smoother, I guess it's difficult with so much functionality and content on the site. Sometimes I just think it's best to keep things as they are, so that everyone can familiarise themselves with the layout.
That's a good point, I'm not sure how many templates there are as I don't really use the hubs, etc.
Have a great day.
Roy
Change within Hubs has happened frequently, but as we move to an entirely new UX, these changes here at WA usually happen every 5-8 years so they are infrequent.
The entire intent of the update is to make WA more organized, because as you indicated it is hard to find stuff and instead of trying to patch smaller problems, we get to re-think WA design to set up the platform for the vision here, and for the future of WA.
There is a lot of training here, more than any other platform in our industry, and more current. Yet it's hard to find, so one of our main focuses here is organization and bringing the training together in a way that "makes sense". We also want to reward creators, and those contributing to WA with an improved ambassador platform, and we want to update all of the legacy platforms here at WA that are still hanging on to the platform.
This is probably our best update ever, and we have 20 years of feedback and experience that is going into this update.
We do and will have Beta testers, and we have gotten a lot of feedback in January in Vegas RE: the interface. The group there was blown away, and absolutely loved the direction, but also had some key feedback that we have acted on. :)
Thanks as always, and I am sure this won't be perfect for everyone at the very outset because of "change" and people like to work within a flow the understand (though it may not be the best flow), but I think you will really come to love the platform as it is rolled out.
It's never the best to keep things the way they are either...that is not a progressive company, and we are not like that. We are seeing most of our competition die around us, because they are not progressive...and that has always been the case.
People will be able to familiarize themselves within the new UX very quickly, and this is why we are also introducing it in advance and will continue to do so, so it is not a big shock when it rolls out (there will be a certain comfort level).
If you don't improve design, and you don't evolve, a business will eventually no longer exist. We are making things EASIER for folks, and much more organized.
See my above comment...Actually copy and paste for you...lol.
I have tried it and am a bit disappointed. Firstly, if nobody changes the outline of the blog every member of WA is going to be posting similar blogs or at least look like it.
Secondly. I think charging 250 credits for an image is too much when you can do it online with a more personalized image. yes, it takes a bit longer, but the results are better.
Lastly, when posting to social media the image does not automatically load so you have to look for another image or stuff around saving and ( easier to make your own and update to web library) etc.
Do not get me wrong, I appreciate the background work into making this a better platform. And overall I think it is working, but in my opinion the images should be free and incorporated into one charge.
Take this as constructive criticism Kyle and Carson, and I love this platform but you did ask for honest comments.
Stephen
Thank you for your response, Kyle, as always it's appreciated.
I'm very aware that you are trying to make the platform better all the time, that has to be good! I think with any website with huge amounts of content, like Wealthy Affiliate, there will always be a small amount of searching. I actually like the way you have the classes set up into various categories, it makes things quite easy to find.
I genuinely believe that you've put a huge amount of effort into the update and listened to all the feedback. I'm looking forward to seeing the new look, etc. I appreciate that nothing is perfect in this world, but I do rate the platform very highly!
Have a great day.
Roy
That's a fair comment, Kyle, I understand where you're coming from regarding moving forward.
Yes, I agree that after the initial few minutes, we normally quickly find out where things are when a website changes.
Have a great day.
Roy
Thanks for your comments, Steve, it's appreciated.
I can't really comment very much on what you're saying as I don't really use the hubs as such, or not to their full potential. However, going back a few years ago, I tried site content, it didn't work at all for me, it appears it works for some members and not others.
With all these types of features, I think they can be a terrific amount of playing around and messing about, which is why I don't use any of them.
Just recently I tried using the writer, I don't normally use it, but I was just carrying out an experiment. It wrote absolute rubbish, ChatGPT made a better job with the same prompts. However, I had no intention of using the content as I prefer to write my own unique content. AI is great for brainstorming though and suggestions, but the content we need to keep it personal.
I think sometimes we can over automate things rather than making it personal.
Have a great day.
Roy
You are referring to something completely different, this is the UX. I got back to your response.
The AI template platform is a significant improvement, and the feedback has been amazing this far. It is about 10x better than the designer/author before, with the authors getting a huge upgrade. So we have positioned you with MUCH better tools in your account.
If you don't want to use the generated images, you don't have to. You can remove them from the templates if you want, that is up to you Steve. ;)
Yeah, we are a progressive company, and we are in a constant state of evolution. We have to be, as a tech company or we will be left in the dust.
Every change we make is to make the community/platform better, more streamlined, and all updates are driven by the feedback we get from the community. :)
I'm looking forward to seeing the new platform now, Kyle. It's good that you listen to all the feedback from the community. I'm always for a very clean and straightforward approach for a website. As you know, I'm not great on change, but I really do appreciate where you're coming from and what you are doing.
All the best.
Roy
The change is good if I want to learn FB, IG, Pinterest, and all things "social", even Core, Traffic, etc. Items of focus are front & center. The left side gives you more real estate to use to expand your list.
The problem with too much space is the attempt to use it all. I see that with all the category "breakouts," the left menu could get quite long when you expand them.
And where are you going to add something new to the menu when a shiny new thing becomes mainstream? Add another row? Use more space?
Where am I going with this? I will have to expand most of the menus to find the answer to my question unless they are open by default. Which goes back to the length.
I can envision that I would probably default to simply using the search bar at the top.
Doing this will defeat the entire menu system's purpose- ease of finding information..
Google is facing the same problem, trying to have all things for all people and losing its core competency of providing links in the process.
Keep it tight and simple, or we might lose the plot.
Just my initial reaction without being able to use it.
MrDon
The goal is to first, organize everything we have. We have bits and pieces that have been added to WA through the years that have HAD to be added somewhere. We can now bring all of these pieces together within a unified, much more organized and easier to navigate interface.
We aren't making this update because the current UX is really good, we are making it because the current UX has a lot to be desired because there is so much going on, and it is hard to navigate. So are improving WA, and instead of having menus up top, along the side, menus that are hidden until you find them, etc....we are streamlining everything.
We have several of the top design minds working on this behind the scenes, and 20 years of feedback and knowledge that is going into this, along with a great deal of feedback already on this latest UX. It is our best yet, by far.
We have a lot going on here at WA, and while we can keep it simple, we also have to acknowledge proper navigation to the platforms/training/community that people are using, and have come to love. After using both in parallel for some time now, I can see the new platform is vastly improved from the existing. :)
Kyle, I appreciate your explanation and understand that a better organization was required.
Length vs brevity covering the quantity of training that we have. This is a good problem to have and one of the reasons that I joined WA and continue to promote it on my blogs.
Training and Community.
While the first impression may not have been the best (an ultra long left side menu), I look forward to seeing it in action.
And while I have other questions, I will hold them until the release.
Don
Yeah, it is something that we are going to really aim to nail this. Here is a condensed menu.
I had he menu fully cracked open, so this gives you some perspective here. It is not "finished" by any means, we are about 6 weeks out and a lot happens through the course of a week, let alone 6.
I can tell you that the current version/state of Beta (which I showed) is already much better in terms of navigation and design, so it is only going to be even that much better as we move closer to release.
We will be keeping everyone in the loop with an over the shoulder look.

This is about our new UX, and nobody has tried it yet as it is not released yet. I think you are referring to the new AI templates platform, which has been well received by the community and people are loving it.
It allows you to use existing default templates, or create variations of your own. So you are in full control, which is a massive leap from the 1.0 platform where you had no structure to your content.
So you don't have to use the templates there, you can edit them, adjust them, or build your own and then reproduce. :)
As for the images, images are VERY expensive from an AI cost standpoint. This streamlines things, and if you want more credits (and a lot more), consider the P+ membership, or you can use one of the many generative AI image tool platforms out there and you can create your own, sometimes they are free. And you can remove images from the templates, if you don't want to use AI credits for images.
So that option will always be there, but we IMPROVED this platform drastically, and gave it to all members at no extra cost, as we do every update. :)
I appreciate your feedback and I hope I have offered you some clarity here.
Tanks, yeh probably will not use the AI templates, but all good.
Steve
Another question from the user experience of your online teaching business, lol.
I have read that you will limit costs to the maximum word level on posts written here. So, if I got 1000 words and only requested 750, all cool, no extra "fee"
But For example, if I wrote a post for 750 words and the AI does not deliver on content length, will that be rebated, or what's the story.
I know I will get these questions from people who want to join WA, and they should, and I need a definitive answer.
Sorry, easier to write here, and it saves me time.
Cheers
