Affiliate Marketing is SIMPLE. It's How You Approach It.
Hey Everyone,
Today, I want to talk about Affiliate Marketing 101—simple yet often overlooked basics that are essential whether you’re just starting or have been in the game for a while.
Key Takeaways:
- Simplicity in Affiliate Marketing: The essence of affiliate marketing is straightforward. You have a customer on one side and a product or service on the other. Your role as an affiliate marketer is to connect these two through relevant content.
- Content Alignment: Create content that aligns a customer's needs with the right product. Whether it's through blog posts, YouTube videos, social media, or user-generated content, ensure your recommendations are relevant and helpful.
- High Conversion through Relevance: If your content effectively matches the customer’s needs with the right product or service, your affiliate transactions will convert at a higher rate. For example, if someone is looking for ways to jump higher in sports like volleyball or basketball, and your content recommends the best products to help with that, you’ll see more successful conversions.
- Keep It Simple: Always remember, the fundamental process is simple. Focus on aligning customers with the right products through relevant content. This mindset will help you stay effective and successful.

When I was a sales director for a company, we had a salesman who did everything right until it came to converting his presentation into a sale. He was a nice man, knew his product, and was always polite, so something was wrong with his presentation. I accompanied him on a call, sat back, and observed.
I saw he over-complicated his presentation, used phrases that the customer didn't fully understand, and assumed the potential client already knew much about our product. I watched as the customer's eyes glazed over until it was obvious he wasn't going to buy.
It's the same with affiliate marketing. We may not be face-to-face with our potential customers, but the same principle applies. Keep to the facts, tell them what they want to know, and inform them what advantages they will gain by purchasing the product. It's not complicated...
Yes, that is exactly the case and I catch myself doing this as well. When Carson and I approach anything, we often times ask ourselves "would our mom's understand this?". If the answer is no, then there is a good chance that we have gone a little too complex either with the design, the language, or both.
We are not face to face in the online world, so we don't have that instant feedback. The feedback is typically people clicking away, or not accomplishing something...and that is really tough to interpret at times as the root cause, because we don't have this person to person communicate.
Simplify everything you do in business and always speak to the lowest common denominator. Those are good rules to live by if you want to maximize conversions.
Absolutely SIMPLE 👍
It’s the nature of the internet that makes it hard to get $ALE$.
Perfect alignment with the product and the prospect is vital.
After that, it’s all about the relationship and building trust.
The Affiliate Model is SO simple and when sales are not as simple, it gets frustrating.
Keep It Super Simple 💋
Stay consistent 💰💰💰
It really comes down to that. the purest path to converting is relevance.
Of course there is the trust component (which is established through your content), but proper alignment between the product and the visitor is how you can fully maximize conversions.
Thank you, Kyle, for yet another piece of motivational and helpful content
on affiliate marketing.
The watchword here is simplicity.
According to the video, an affiliate marketer's main job is to connect the demand side (consumers) to the supply side (products and service suppliers) through relevance.
I wish us all a pleasant day.
Thanks.
The watchword is always simplicity in business. Naturally I think we all try to make things more complex than they need to be in business because there is the notion that building a business is tough.
The process of building a business isn't complex though, it just takes some hard work and dedication (that is the "tough" part).
Hi Kyle,
The Monday Motivation gets me sorted.
Your central message resonates with me: keep it simple.
Thanks.
I'm on my 30th post (pending) on my website.
I've had, I think, 5 pages indexed on Google.
However, I'm not sure I'm getting things right and so therefore need your feedback, particularly in regard to:
assigning categories to posts and editing these categories;
getting more engagement; and
getting conversions.
I left you a message about getting some much required feedback on my website and the recent posts I have posted -- I hope you received it.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Cheers.
Ok, Soheil. You can categorize your posts as you are creating them. The Hub will give you some ideas as to how you can structure your website, the categories, and the actual menu structure. So these should get you moving in the right direction.
If you have dropped me a PM looking for feedback, I will get back to you shortly here. :)
Thank you so much Kyle. I'll let you know how I go. Always great to hear from you. Cheers.

Thank you Kyle for the presentation. However, I must confess that I have met a number of brick walls these few days. I have started applying to a number of affiliate links to see if some fiscal gains could come in. Unfortunately and very disappointingly, several of my applications have been turned down by these affiliates e.g Avantlink, Shareasale, etc. Some of the reasons are - Let me quote one in particular "The application you submitted was denied because the website was incomplete, a parked domain, for sale or was a website you do not own. Ownership authentification is required for all applicants". So my question and frustration now is;
(1) How do I authenticate my website ownership?
(2) What makes my website incomplete and how could it be made complete ?
Thank you for your kind support.
Sincerely,
Richard.
normally for authentication you need to add a code snippet to your site....
this shows the program that you own and control the website....
a parked site is one that you own but do not have hosting on or a website....
i would not expect everything to happen instantly as it won't....
there is a lot to learn at the start and bit by bit you are goven most here - some you have to work out for yourself, jsut like in college....
Thank you for your response. Nevertheless, can you walk me through this process, perhaps with a video?
Phil has you covered here. For most, you'd use the WP Code to input your script in the header; however, different programs may require different setups. It is best to read the instructions and their terms and conditions.
You would typically need content and traffic before applying to affiliate programs, as they would check your website before approval.
I would add more informational content to drive organic traffic.
From their perspective, they're in business to make money... There's no reason why they wouldn't want to work with you once your site is up to standard and meets the program's expectations.
You are lacking a top menu, and you want 10-15 posts on your website first before you want to start applying for programs that require an application on their website. They will tend to approve relevant websites at a higher rate as well, but they will want some structure.
So work on your menus as per the training, more content. You can work on getting some featured images in place as well, something that is also covered as you move forward through the training.
You should be adding feature images to all of your posts. You can do this within the post editor for each post that you create, down the right hand side below the tags you will see the option to upload a feature image.
Here is a training walk-through on how to set-this up. Adding Featured Images to Your Website (and Avoiding Duplication) This will add an image above/beside (depending on your theme) your content snippet on your blog roll which makes your blog roll much more visual.
Thank you Kyle! I will chaeck that out.
