I just did a blog post where I mentioned how a company was offering $500 "bounty" for new users. I mentioned that anyone could sign up for free and promote this via their webs
I apologise for pointing out your error of judgement, in promoting something outside of WA. I personally have no problem with you telling us about something that could benefit us but I undestand the wA Rules and I didn’t want you to be seen as breaching them and being punished for doing so.
I have made my own mistakes in the past so understand the implications.
Hope there are no bad feelings for pointing out an error I have made myself in the past.

No worries at all Karen. I want to play by the rules and I respect the opinions of others.
All the best!

The safest thing is to not post anything at WA that is intended to take people to a different website for any reason. Here's a link to the rules Spam is a NO NO!
Hello Kim, Kyle goes through examples of people leaving comments on your website that are spam. His example is where a link takes the reader to another website promoting its products or services. I think that is why you got signalled out.
I you do a review post on your website and then recommend the site through a link that might be acceptable.
I am sorry to hear that. I believe if you are posting something here in WA, you need to be guided by the rules. I understand the link you posted was not affiliated to you but if you posted something about an affiliate program out there and there was a link, people might think it was your affiliate link.
It is more appropriate to post such info in your website. Do a review about the program.
Or
You can add a line to say the link is not your affiliate link and you just sharing it with others to check.
e.g. Link (not affiliate link)
Hope that answer your question.
:)
Joe
This does make since now that you say that.
I have seen others post links in their reviews and such.
This is exactly what I did!
I created a review and placed it on my website. Then in the blog post I said had a link to my page.
The link on my page was of course my affiliate link. But I explicitly stated in my blog post that you should not use my link, just use my page as an example of how you could promote this offering.
Okay - I understand now.
You created a blog post here in WA which linked to a blog post in your website talking about the program, am I right to say that?
If that is the case, it's might be seen as promoting your site within WA which is not allowed (despite you stated not to use your link).
Anything that lead people in WA to go to your site is seen as breaching the house's rules (sorry to say that).
The rationale is simply if that is allowed people will start posting blog posts which directed to their site and defeat the purpose of having blog posts within WA.
The platform is provided for us to share things related to building the business. Promoting our site on the blog platform here is not allowed.
Hope I state it correctly.
:)
Joe
Yeah, that totally makes sense to me...but it doesn't answer the question of how I should share this kind of opportunity.
Something like this could pay for someone's yearly WA dues.
Anyway, no big deal. Err on the side of caution and don't share in WA. Getting flagged as spam is not going to be worth it.
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
I think that it isn't about you sharing as it is about WHAT you are sharing.
Wealthy Affiliate is no doubt the absolute best in it's class, but I think sharing other programs like it for the community to join is sort of like being an employee for Dunking Donuts asking employees of KrispyCreme to sell a certain type of donut on their site.
That is just how I think of it. I am not saying this is the answer to your question. Just how I look at it.
Another thing to, you might think it is a great program and then if a member doesn't agree, well that opens up a whole new can of worms.
Lee Ann
Thanks Lee Ann. So, what I posted about had ZERO to do with affiliate marketing, training, web hosting. It was just a company, that had a great offer that folks like us could benefit from.
I didn't see any conflict of interest...otherwise I never would have posted anything about it.
I see. Yeah I don't know the answer to that. I am sure someone will be able to answer this for you.
Maybe it still stems down to the idea of a difference of opinion and not wanting conflict between members in case they disagree with it being a good program or not.
That is the only thing I can think of.

Where can you share information about affiliate programs?
I just did a blog post where I mentioned how a company was offering $500 "bounty" for new users. I mentioned that anyone could sign up for free and promote this via their webs
Sounds like what you did is OK in my opinion, especially if what you linked to was not your affiliate link, and you explicitly said so.
Was it in the "make money online" niche? That might be a grey area, since lots of places try guerrilla recruiting.
If it was not in the make money niche, and you said in the post that it's not your affiliate link or business, you also have the option of just ignoring what people say. Sometimes folks in the community take the "no spam" rule too far, and start moderating things that don't need to be moderated.
You can also bring it up to Kyle beforehand.
Another great option is to present it as a learning moment. Instead of just posting as a "Check out this great opportunity" post, you can present it as "This is an example of a great affiliate program, here are reasons 1, 2, 3. Here are some alternatives to compare, etc etc".
Thanks Natheniell!
This was not a "make money online" niche. The trading company Robinhood has an offer here you get stock up to $500 for every friend you invite. The great thing is that it is free to setup an account, and there is no min. deposit. I was thinking that a lot of folks on WA could probably use some $$$ (you have the keep the free stock for 30 days then you can sell it).
Anyway, I thought it was cool way to make some side $...enough that someone could easily for WA for a year.
In the future, I will run anything like this past Kyle first.
Thanks again for the guidance.

I've been using All in One SEO for a while now, and have not been entering anything into the KEYWORDS section.
I realized today that anything I enter into TAGS is s
You don't need keywords in that section, however, if I understand correctly, your WordPress TAGS become keywords by default. TAGS are useful! What Are Tags And How To Use Them So you can just enter a couple of tags and be good to go.
Thanks!
It looks like there is some contradiction though....
Jay is saying to not use tags...you are saying it can be good to have some. Is there some nuance I am missing here?
And yeah, when I add tags they are auto populated into the KEYWORD section. I'm going to test to see if I can add tags, and then delete them from KEYWORDs without also losing them in tags.
Did he say to NOT use them, or that they were unnecessary?
Either way, you'll find that there are some differing opinions on SEO. As long as you aren't trying to game the system, you'll be fine, whichever route you go.
I use tags as subcategories. People used to use "keywords" as a way to game search engines by stuffing a bunch of irrelevant keywords into an article to make it rank in Google. If you use 2-5 tags per post you'll be fine IMO, but you can also not use them and be totally fine.
I just finished watching the training. Jay doesn't say you shouldn't use them...he chooses not to. He finds them to be more trouble than they are worth. But says that if you find them useful, then to use them.
Thanks again for the quick response!
This was mentioned in Jay Webinar on Friday:
1. Don’t use Tag
2. Leave Meta Description blank as AIOS will fill them up.
3. Use keyword only in your title and first paragraph, ULR and Alt Text. 2018 Blog Post Checklist
Thank you!!! I didn't get a chance to watch that yet. It is on the top of my list for tomorrow!
I wasn't using them either. I came across this today which helped me very much. I hope it answers your question.

Thank you. There is some helpful stuff in there for sure...but I didn't see the answer I was looking for. Specifically I am wondering about this section.
Ok. Try this one Rich Snippet Meta Description If that don't work, try typing it in your WA search bar and see if you see any links that might be what you are looking for. You can check classes on the left of your page as well.
